I'm looking at this.  While I have my concerns about moving my internet etc. to Spark from 2degrees, if a discounted package was created, along with the discounted fan pass I'd be quite keen as that would completely reduce the need for Sky.

There's no requirement to change ISP, spark sport is independent from the ISP

Maybe. Many though will be forced to keep Sky for other sports, wife, kids, etc. At $20 its not much to just add SS (Spark Sport)

But yes, some will bail,

Sky still has lots of sport I'd like to watch, but I finally pulled the pin yesterday and cancelled it. Interested to see how Spark turns out.

That's correct, so is Lightbox but with Spark Broadband you get it free... so there might be a decent package deal if you switch.  Switching would give access to Sky Sports via Fan Pass at a much reduced rate too.

Must be lots of panicky people in the SkyTV board room today.

That drop in price for HD ticket is rather conveantly dropped right after the announcement for sparksport...

To me, that looks like they have been holding it in their back pocket to drop to try to gain the attention back on sky services.

HD streams will be automatic as they will stop practice of having both SD and HD streams with switch to DVB-S2 H.264.

Nice, my net worth will increase by $10 pw. However, this doesn't help me watch F1. It actually pays for half of my F1 on Spark Sport.....

Yep; as it stands the HD streams are already entitlment free; i.e. if you do your own thing then you can get them without the HD ticket so it will be simply a matter of switching the boxes to HD and voila its done.

$20 a month for F1 alone.......its almost worth it.

Cheaper than trying to get F1TV Pro or finding a unreliable dodgy live stream.

Will F1 replays be available immediately or Watch from the start feature will be available (if race is still going)?

Confirmed that OD is available immediately and not after the race has finished, i.e you can start the stream from the beginning if you join late.

Except, this saving is not till 1 April, and also on 1 April is  the below increase

While this seems OT, its relevant as people decide what to do with Sky based on today's Spark announcement

From your April statement, the cost of three of our channel packages is increasing.  SKY Starter will increase by $1.08 per month, SKY Entertainment by $0.50 per month and SKY Sport by $2.09 per month

Not if you consider that F1 TV Pro is offering a full year sub at USD$50 at the moment.

F1 TV Access is $41USD Annually, but doesnt give you access to live races

The F1 Pro TV is about $12USD per month or $120 odd USD ($170NZD)+cost of VPN or Smart DNS over 10 months.

To me it looks like Spark is cheaper, more convenient.
