And i love the irony of if you don't choose to pay for the streaming service from spark, you can watch the sem's and finals live. And if you are still a Sky customer, you more than likely will watch the FTA coverage through your sky box.

 

 

 

You can argue that any way, no matter who has the rights. Same with Sky, same with SS, same with [insert any provider here]

When Sky had it, it was also FTA, similar terms. Not everyone has or can afford Sky, not everyone has gigabit Fibre. But I have mates who have lowly ADSL and they are Netflix viewers. So its likely that many who have internet access, can access SS. Although the lower connections would be on an at your own risk basis. 

I wonder if say ADSL worked for for Netflix, does that translate to Spark Sport capability?

Which sort of leads on to the second point, why does the price increase as the tournament gets closer? It's not a flight, where tickets gets more expensive as the flight sells out, it's a streaming service.

 

If they want me to pay $60 now, then they need to have the apps available on the smart TV's now. 

 

It's handy for network capacity planning when people sign up early.

When you buy the RWC package, do you get the 30 day free trial from that point on also?

I'm considering purchasing super early bird, but not until the end of May, so then hoping I could use the next 30 days to test the live streaming aspect without having to pay the extra $20.

Also, has there been any indication of how many devices the sub is eligible for?

I will have to start off casting, but hoping to switch over to the Samsung TV if it gets the app in time.

At $59 + $19....it's pretty comparable to a month of Sky + Sky Sport subscription. 

 

For one month yes. However; SkyTV forces 6 months onto you (or is it 12?).  So I can get the Rugby for $60 (for actually a little over a month) or if it were with SkyTV it'd be more like $330.

I think the $60 is very reasonable, however making it more expensive the closer to the tournament you are and $25 a game is rubbish.

I just registered my interest in watching RWC via SS.

I had to enter my mobile number, which is VF.

I hope that doesn't put me at the bottom of the pile.

But if Spark are providing a service, it should be able to handle 800,00 subscribers now, not have to be scaled up as more and more people sign on.

I get the feeling Spark are using this earlybird deal to get money in the bank to fund the development of the platform

As for the early access having the ability to view archive RWC games, won't the best bits of the past matches be available elsewhere (YouTube?) online?

No idea.

The point being the platform should be able to handle a high volume of concurrent users, not have to be scaled up as more and more subscribers join up.

If you're having to scale up as more and more subscribers join up, probably means you haven't load or stress tested the platform. How you simulate\test a high volume of users i don't know, and quite frankly isn't my problem.
