No. But if only Mobil make a particular star spangled banner petrol to and they tell after you've bought it the conditions under which you can use it have changed...

Mobil, and every other petrol supplier has star spangles banner petrol, in terms of their own additives. With petrol, sadly you cannot use to to drive to Hamilton and also give that same petrol to me to drive to Timaru. You buy that petrol it is yours to use or to give away but you cannot share it.

Funny. I just tonight got the update from Disney Plus for my own account.

The wording in the old agreement states:

You agree that as a condition of your license, you may not and agree not to:

x. share your login credentials with third parties; or

So sharing your account was already against the rules.

The new agreement kicks in (for me anyway) on 4 March.

I know its month to month (or yearly) and I know I don't own it (which is why I buy blurays and 4Ks). I also know they can add any Ts and Cs they want and I can like it, not like, or ignore it.

I also remember a writer for PCWorld saying he sold a program, the Ts and Cs of which included a clause to the effect if you broke any conditions you were to run naked down the street shouting Dilbert, Dilbert, Dilbert (or similar), but apparently you add what you want to terms and conditions...

I also seem to remember reading about bosses of Netflix positively encouraging sharing, till it affected the share price and revenue projections of course, then, surprise, surprise its a big problem and we're suddenly just so entitled.

Can you provide a link? Online stuff is shareable by its very nature. If they turned a blind eye, thats up to them. I doubt they actively told subscribers feel free to share your login those outside your home, or non residents to your home.

Not sure if this kind of thing counts -

https://techcrunch.com/2016/01/11/netflix-ceo-says-account-sharing-is-ok/

https://www.techradar.com/news/home-cinema/here-s-why-you-shouldn-t-feel-guilty-about-sharing-your-netflix-password-1312951

Does all sound like they mean the same couch, and I can't say I approve of sharing accounts with a guy I met down the pub either, but they at least don't seem that bothered till it affects the numbers, which also may not be unreasonable, being a business. Think it counts as a change of tack though.

Just received the same email. Will see how they actively enforce this as my daughter is living in another city and watches a fair bit of Disney on the family account. Granted she can just come into the family VPN if needs be but will just resort to torrenting if it gets too hard.

Speaking of Disney but not worthy of making a thread, are there any renewal discounts that anyone is aware of?

Pay 10 months in advance get year, probably not what you're hoping for.

While people are paying $6 for a coffee and $1.80 for a cigarette the streamers aren't going to give it away.

Oh, no. I meant my comment about the loss of revenue for streaming providers. First the market is flooded for free, so to speak, and then when the market share has been established, the accounts are settled.

Now the "household network" is stretched across the whole world (hello tailscale or zerotier😉).

our Disney+ subscription via gamsgo.com is still working fine without VPN or DNS service.

It was $24.99USD PER YEAR. (about $3.33NZD per month)

You get 1 of the 5 user profiles. I just looked and they aren't offering it this month, but it seems to change month to month. There are other shared account services that manage 1 account and divided out the users.

At least one of them expects users to only join groups where it doesn't breach streaming service rules ie you're in a household. Yeah right!
