Unfortunately the channels start playing fine, they always start playing near instant, its when you're sitting watching then suddenly out of the blue it happens. So this doesn't prove much :/

Has been good tonight though :)

Whatever is causing this, it's real. I have had identical experience over the past few nights. It is worse during peak hours ca 8-10 pm, though also later. Other times it is fine.

At the moment it seems ok but I have it on lowest res because of the issues.

I've just spent a few hours watching . . .

TV1
Aljazeera
BBC World

No issues at all . . .
And this is on a pretty low spec device (raspb pi 2B running OSMC/Kodi 18.6)

@ Rikkitic . . . for as long as I can remember you have been having buffering issues (long before everyone was staying at home) while nobody else has been seeing this . . . so I'm far from convinced that the issue is anything other than your own setup / isp problems

Watching ABC news right now. Playing fine on lowest quality. Continuous buffering on highest. Speedtest local 29 Mbps, Auckland Spark 24 Mbps.

I had fantastic results on RBI for about a year. Then I started having problems that got steadily worse. Eventually the community concluded that it was mast congestion. I am now on a WISP, different ISP. Have had great results until recently. Overwhelming demand from enforced isolation is creating issues on some streams, especially overseas. Another poster here is also having problems. I said I was experiencing something similar. Others say everything is fine. There are many things that can cause this. I suspect a recent Kodi add-on but don't know. I am not an expert. We share experiences and learn from each other.

But sharing the same fault over and over doesn't. It can cloud actual stuff

Your provider is likely not a big player and will severely lack the same handover and backhaul than the main isps. And infact likely paying for a slice from them

Speed test is only good for statistics. Local wep page loading or descent server file transfer

Streaming, a different ballgame as it needs it real-time, and not recoverable if gaps and the buffer depleated. Throw in dns, cache and peering. And it's peeing in the wind/likely different for each

ABC news playing fine here
Incidentally . . . how are you selecting different stream qualities?
In Simple IPTV I don't see any stream selection option.

There is an add-on that lets you merge playlists and gives you this functionality for NZ and OZ FTA IPTV streams. You can choose from a number of different resolutions from high to low. It works well to exchange buffering for quality but I suspect it may be creating some issues discussed here.

Senecio:

IPLayTV worked best for me but I still had a little stutter in the stream every 15-20s. I haven't gone back to it sine getting the VTV.

I ended up getting no where with NextPVR, Emby, xTeVe etc. Went and ordered a VTV today.
