Reports from other forums say that after updating to tvOS 16.1, the Apple TV 4K (1st & 2nd Generations) is now showing the HDR10+ logo on former HDR10 only films from their iTunes libraries.

I immediately updated my software to the latest version, but I couldn't find any of the reported films showing the HDR10+ logo. My Panasonic does support HDR10+, so I'm not sure if we in NZ will get it, or maybe I need to fiddle with the settings.

EDIT: Okay, I did a restart and a reset, still no luck. If any of you do see the HDR10+ logo on your HDR10 movies, please LMK.

Okay, I updated my iPhone to 16.1, and opened the Apple TV+ app. Titles in my library are still showing as HDR10, but titles in the store are showing as HDR10+. I expect everything will be updated soon, then we will be able to watch films in HDR10+, that's if your eyes are keen enought to be able to see the difference.

"Apple is quietly adding support for the HDR10+ HDR format to its Apple TV app.

The iPhone maker confirmed to FlatpanelsHD that HDR10+ will be supported in the Apple TV app on iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura.

There's no official confirmation as to whether HDR10+ will be supported by tvOS 16 or other smart TV platforms that offer the Apple TV app (Google TV, Tizen, etc). Stay tuned for more on that."

Just an update on HDR10+ availability on Apple TV 4K (Gen. 1 & 2).

HDR10+ will only be available on Apple TV 4K (Gen. 3). You may see the HDR10+ logo in the store, but it will not play back on the older Apple TV 4K machines.
