same day that PLP went live as well :P don't think they will be to happy with us.
As an Arsenal fan this is the best news I have heard in a long time! I already pay for Sky Sports HD so now for no extra cost I can watch every Arsenal game in HD and 5.1 sound. On top of that it looks like we will be getting the FA cup games as well :) It might not be live but I always watched it delayed anyway.

So there will be NO live games?! Personnely I don't see any positives...nothing beats watching (the mighty Blues) without knowing the score!
The positive is that colliseum will fail. The live rights will then be sold to SKY and they will provide the coverage live in HD and 5.1 sound.
Its just a matter of time now...
It serves them right to be honest, how they thought people would be happy to go backwards is beyond me. If the technology or the expense of providing it was a problem then they should never have made a bid on the rights.

Today is a joyous day - is the understatement of the century..... now if only Arsene would open his cheque book, it might be a decent season!
Coliseum have had their product launched for the best part of 5 days and some of you guys are already celebrating their demise? Give them a chance.
This is a new service. I am glad of their entry to the market. As we have seen today it has forced Sky to get of their backside and work to get their sports rights. Now there is going to be more football available to fans than ever before.
Being a new service there were always going to be some teething issues, hopefully they will iron out the quality issues in the coming weeks and we will have a plethora of football to choose from come the beginning of the season.
This has been a textbook exercise on how-not to go about launching a new venture. They have woefully over-promised & on the basis of what we have seen so far, under-delivered. In a completely ham-fisted way they have bitten off a good chunk of the sport-viewing audience & hoped to monetise their investment right from the get-go. While I understand their license is only for 3 years, they needed to take a much longer view on this venture.
2degrees would be the perfect example on how to go about entering a mono/duopolistic market. Invest, be prepared to lose some money initially, in the hope of attracting a larger audience down the track as word of the quality & innovation gets around. Instead they have skimped on what matters most - quality. In this case by paying for the bare minimum in terms of streaming quality. Once Sommet & Sky kick-off with the top 6 clubs their potential subscriber audience becomes those fans who just cannot watch anything but live-football (& one wonders what % of the viewing audience in NZ that is given the broadcast times), & the balance of the other 14 teams in the league whose fans want more than just 8 games a season + a highlights package. I really don't think that is going to be viable for them.
As I see it, their only chance is to upgrade the bitrate of the streams they will deliver in hope of winning back the fans that want to watch games live. But it would need to be near HD quality & they need to get apps out immediately on XBox, PS3, & Apple TV as I just don't believe the average punter can be bothered with hooking up their laptops/desktops to the living room TV. These should have been ready to go on launch date, another massive oversight.
Failing that, they sell the rights back to Sky or Sommet & exit the market.
So what are you going to do Coliseum?
PS - Arsenal supporter, & almost 100% certain to make to do with delayed games on Sky + the Monday night highlights package on TV One.

The quality of Arsenal TV will depend on how they get the feed I would imagine.
If it is just you going to the Arsenal hosted server then as it is in London you are probably the furtherest away you can be so get the worst possible speeds. And it also depends on when you watch to as how busy their server is and how busy NZ networks are.

The quality of Arsenal TV is far better than PLP, go watch some highlights or something on there, all the content is free at the moment.
Possibly 720p, it automatically adjusts the quality just like PLP does so give it some time, the stream starts off at a lower bitrate.
I'd more than happily sign up to PLP if they have this quality of video, looked great on a 55" TV.

As a Man United fan I am really hoping that Sky get them as the fourth club. Given that Sommet have been broadcasting their pre-season games, I suspect that they will have them though. I have big concerns over the quality though, even thru Sky. I think HD EPL footy is off the table in the near future.

dont forget Henderson
Henderson was brilliant at the tail end of last season and was largely the reason for Gerrard being able to play as much as he did. Is a machine in the middle and his fitness would be among the best.

But even FA cup games can't be played until midday Sunday according to the above and that would be midnight Sunday NZ time and FA cup and EPL are the on;y Saturday games, the other comps are all midweek.
