So the question for me is: Is it possible to change the DNS settings on the Fire TV box? Don't want to use Unblock Us DNS at the router, it can be sluggish for quite a few sites - so prefer to limit it to the devices that need GEO unblocking.

That is the question. Hopefully once a few people get hold of them, we will have an answer.
It is the reason I did not get a Roku.

My payment got rejected via bank/Amazon. Was using kiwibank mastercard  Do you have to use a US funds loaded debit card e.g my Air New Zealand mastercard/travel card to purchase this fire TV?

Depending on the credit card used it will indicate to the processor which country it was issued - and Amazon will reject that. You should use something like the Air NZ OneSmart...

There, this device solves it. Who needs Chromecast and its dumb locking?

That is, until Amazon is asked to locked it down with an update...

If I go over to the States now via plane, and bring one back for you, will you be happy to halve the share of the "freight"? :P

I used the NZ post Oregon address, I switched to Amex, then received an email from Amex saying fraud detection. Gave them a call and they released payment.

Looks interesting.

I'm particularly interested in whether it has a physical ethernet port (not just WiFi like the Chromecast) and whether it has a web browser that can play streaming flash videos (or one can be side loaded). That's the one thing I need that my WD Live won't do. I have a Hauppauge Broadway hooked up to my network, rooftop antenna and Sky box etc. This has a DLNA server that lets me stream the imput to my PC in  the study, my phone (droid) and my tablet (droid), as well as change channels and control recording etc. Unfortunately, the WD Live in the bedroom will "see" the DLNA server, but not handle the output.

If this will work, at that pricing I would be keen.

Keenly looking forward to reviews when people have them in their hot little hands.....

No. Surely you jest. There's porn sullying our lovely pure interweb, bastion of purity and all that's wholesome? That can't be true. I refuse to believe it. tongue-out

Garvani posted a few pages back with a link to the user manual. Page 2 shows an ethernet port.

Apparently people have been posting incorrect/untrue information as well. Unbelievable...
