We also need to see an end to these content service/hardware manufacturer exclusivity partnerships, such as the one between TV3 and Samsung. To paraphrase Helen Lovejoy, "Won't somebody please think of the consumers!"
I think that is more of a case that law needs to catch up with this new technology.

Dragging this topic a little off topic. TVNZ have a technology agreement with Samsung too (and Apple) which, in theory, limits On Demand to a select few devices. It's a very bad thing for consumers as it locks out hardware choice, it's also a very bad thing for advertisers as a huge chunk of their potential market is being shut out. I would have thought they would be up in arms about this and demanding the broadcasts be done in HTML5 making them platform independant.

dclegg:SaRaCeNz: Yeah- but in reality, any streaming service in NZ needs to get iTunes on side so they can push out an app to ATV. Otherwise I suspect they are wasting their time.
Or partner with a similar device manufacturer (Roku, WD Live etc) to provide your average technically illiterate consumer with a relatively easy way to get their wares onto the TV. But it needs to have decent quality. That is where Quickflix really failed for us. We used their PS3 app (as that was the best option for us), and the picture quality was awful.
