SheriffNZ:
littleheaven: Mirroring ITV from my old iPad to my Apple TV at the moment as a pre-rugby test. Not HD but if the quality for the rugby remains as it is right now, it'll be very watchable. For a free broadcast, it'll be fine for the early rounds, and then Prime has live coverage of most of the playoff games. If I want HD I'll spring for Fan Pass for the later games. Happily we'll be holidaying in the GC in the school holidays and they have FOXTEL on all 7 TVs in the house we're renting :)

Found out yesterday that while Prime will have live coverage of all of the games from the QF onwards, they'll be running adverts throughout the games so they will become more and more delayed.

Oh, boo. ITV all the way, then, with FanPass as a second option if ITV sucks.

I suspect this just provides the unblocking (via VPN), and you'd still need to pay subscriptions to the individual providers. But it's good there's more choice out there.

It appears so as I just went to their site and clicked on the various channel logos and was able to watch since I have Unotelly service.

I was able to watch ITV fine using Unotelly so I would not need that service.

But when I sent to say SyFy to try to watch that channel it asked me to enter my local cable company. I wonder how ViewTVabroad  get around that?

I doubt they do - they're just geo-unblocking the channels via VPN for you, which is consistent with the price they are charging.

It will be interesting to see. I watched the FIFA World Cup via UnoTelly and BBC Sport channel and it was superb quality. It will indeed be interesting to see how the commercial channel stacks up (desperately trying to keep thoughts of other commercial organisations such as Sky out of my head)!

Im thinking if you want to watch the world cup for free you are going to get bombarded with ads and have the live rugby experience ruined  i.e prime or itv ( not 100% sure itv will show ads but as they are free to air as well you would have to expect so) or you have to put up with at best okish picture or at worst a totally unwatchable experience with one of the free streaming option like  sportlemon.tv ,streamhunter or one of the other numerous dodgy sites that are unusable unless you use an adblocker .
So what are the best paying option without signing up to sky for a year? Without a vpn or dns service its fanpass for $20 a week, or a family or friends login for skygo, which doesn't seem to get good reviews.
So who has used the paid overseas option out there, are they comparable in price and quality to fanpass?
Im sure if Im getting up at 3am to watch rugby I don't want to be mucking around too much.

Easy solution

Using
1.Google Chrome
2.DNS unblocked Unotelly Hola etc.
3.Chromecast

Connect to itv using Chrome then cast to your TV using the Chrome pluggin for Chromecast hit full screen, works a treat and it's easy.

Watching on Samsung TV. Using ITV on iPad through dns4me and mirrored to TV. Very good quality and no adverts in the first half.
