Its the non-trekiness that seems to be its strongest part - just a bit .... surprising for product of that franchise. Jason Issacs is an interesting character - spot the tribble in his office.
Did everyone pick up on Michael being raised by Spock's Mum and Dad (Amanda and Sarek) and she referred to spending time with "Amanda's son"?

I've been on Geekzone over 16 years..... Time flies....
I quite liked the first two - I liked the pace. Not too fast.
Not totally convinced by the Klingon makeover though.
And episode 3...? Can my daughter and I be the first to here to say Hello to Jason Isaacs?
I watched ep 3 of Discovery and ep 4 of The Orville last night. Discovery has definitely improved over the first 2 edpisodes, and The Orville continues to be vey good. I'm a happy chappie!

I know there was a mutiny charge for the person in the plot and in fact she's guilty... But circumstances and the fact she was right surely could be used to attenuate the "life in prison" sentence?
It doesn't change the plot much but annoys me.

Yes, a prime example of some plot contrivance that does not quite gel but as I said earlier - it's still in its infancy so I'm prepared to look past that stuff while it settles - just thank god no one decided to go beyond the wall on a implausible suicide mission to take a white walker hostage!

I think the issue is not just the mutiny but that because she killed T'Kuvma, as opposed to stunning and capturing him as was the initial plan, she started the war that she was trying desperately to prevent. The real contrivance is that she changed her phaser from stun to kill before firing. To me, that is the plot contrivance that really makes no sense.

This is not the mutiny charge. The mutiny charges came from putting the captain to sleep then taking over the bridge, claiming doing so under the (obviously missing) captain's authority.

freitasm: Interesting episode but... The physics of the travel don't pan out really. Biology and physics?
And why don't we see this form of transportation in series set after Discovery? I'm guessing they decide that it's not fair to force the monster thingie to be a navigator and so stop using it.
BlueShift:
Best in-joke of the series so far - turn on closed-captions, there's subtitles in Klingon!
A True Trekkie will turn on these subtitles, turn off the English soundtrack and just read the Klingon. ![]()
I've never really watched ST before at all but really enjoying this. Big screen telly and sounds great on Sonos 3.1 setup with the volume cranked - the sub rocks the room.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
