The Shield doesn't have a google home app but it might be in the settings... I'll have a look after work.

I'll put a feature request in to SS to consider auto framerate switching to sync to content as that would help the judder, but it would likely only be active on native apps ... I'm still hoping for a brand agnostic Android TV app!

However, i can give them the initial bad news now.

I am on ADSL about 10Mbps and it works well on a Chromecast unless someone else is watching YouTube videos..

Spark sports did not work from Australia even through a paid VPN service. Managed to get it working with a private VPN into my home router, maybe set one up before you go?

Otherwise Kayo offer a 14 day free trial in Australia.

Has anyone managed to get 5.1 surround sound working? If so what was your setup?

My chromecast will only play 2.0 with SS, but happy to play 5.1 with plex etc.

Oh. for shield yeah, it might struggle.

It's in the Google Home app. i assume shield has something along the same lines?

So the shield has no settings for casting or changing refresh rate as a result without changing the overall refresh rate... I suspect if the content is refresh rate reliant then those on shields and other android tvs will have issues

i'll watch the Bahrain GP on my Surface book2, via Chrome or Firefox. This is the only current option for the best viewing experience. Casting has judder and my i3 NUC is probably underpowered.

The little things make the biggest difference.

So I just signed up to SS (for the trial) and I have to say immediately I won't be subscribing. I was interested because I thought you had the NBA but now I realize it's just "NBA TV"

I'm interested in following one team and watching all the games I can catch live and replays of those I can't. Not 6-7 random games a week. Who follows a competition in that way?

NBA TV is pretty weak and I'm sure a relatively cheap way to pad the lineup. From the NBA's perspective it might funnel some people who develop an interest into paying for real NBA coverage from NBA League pass (which I do subscribe to).

I get it that I'm not a special snowflake and it is what it is but yeah.

Quality looked good but Chrome would stutter every 3-4 seconds. FF was smooth.

Good luck I hope it turns into something more robust in the future.

Just checking in as first F1 middle of night race is this weekend. Presume VOD assets are still up to 4 hours after event finish? If so then FP2 may not be available online for ondemand watching until around 10am Sat morning depending on how long the programme extends beyond the practice times; is this roughly correct and the race could be available at 11am Monday.
