hio77: Not all content is in 5.1 sound.

But the F1 should be, has anyone managed to get it working?

Looks like WRC is broadcast in 5.1 and works on chromecast. So the app and chromecast (ultra) work with surround.

Hopefully the F1 will be broadcast in 5.1 for later races - it is available with sky uk.

Mick Schumacher is in F2 so that's worth a watch. I watch that anyway, but a heads up

FYI and Android TV client IS on the way. No, I don't have an estimated release date.

Cheers - N

Wooo!  Hopefully not a Sony exclusive a la Lightbox but Android TV client would be much nicer than a casted app!

Can anyone share a working link to the android apk (tablet or phone) for spark sport?  Although I am in NZ, I travel a lot and Google play does not believe that my android devices are here.

Just checking in as first F1 middle of night race is this weekend.  Presume VOD assets are still up to 4 hours after event finish? If so then FP2 may not be available online for ondemand watching until around 10am Sat morning depending on how long the programme extends beyond the practice times; is this roughly correct and the race could be available at 11am Monday.

Hi there, thought I’d comment on this because I’ve seen a lot of comments around this.

We are working extremely hard to bring you the VOD as soon as the events are completed and as processes mature are are optimized, we believe this will get more efficient. The Bahrain practices were both available within 10 minutes of their respective finishes and we hope this will only get better moving forward :)

Cheers

Hi there

We’re working as hard as we can to get the VOD available as soon as it’s finished; for example, Bahrain Practice 1 and 2 were available within 10 minutes of their completion. We hope and we’re confident this can continue and I am sure we will continue to optimize the process as we move forward :).

Cheers

Best post of the day right here :-)  Thanks SS for trying, appreciate its harder than us consumers will believe... as close to the live end time as you can get it will be good.

I am curios about what happens if we have an app crash during delayed live playback that then forces us to use the VOD instead, would we have to try and re-establish the accurate location that we had or will the app be clever enough to sort that out for us?

Excellent!

When is it gonna be available :-p

Just kidding. Would be keen to beta test it for you though.

Had an issue with changing my receiving cast device; received a DRM error on switching to new cast receiver and then as a result of killing the app to solve it I had no resume option.

have fed the following back:

Devices: Nokia 7.1 plus (Android 9) casting to nVidia Shield TV (latest firmware and Android TV)

Just attempting to watch the FP1 practice from the Bahrain GP weekend using VOD not Live.  Started watching in the bedroom on the shield TV there and it was fine, as the kids have gone out now I decided to finish off watching it in the lounge, so paused the stream, stop the cast and attempted to recast to the Lounge Shield TV.  Starts up and the DRM error so can’t continue… Only way to get it going is to stop the stream and kill the app; however as a result I lost my position and the resume option never came up meaning I’ve just lost my place… Sure its not a live race so not an issue  at this point but this is a bug as Netflix can do this fine along with other cast based apps.

Anyone else had something similar?

Chris

Also was there an issue about 58 minutes in where the stream lost its picture but had audio?  Bluntly never had any of these issues with Sky so its very disappointing that we're suffering them during the actual F1 season...

Just watching FP1 now, is there any way to fast forward or even maybe skip forward through the coverage?
I don't see any control-type buttons on the app for doing that, and frankly speaking I don't really think looking at "Stay tuned, broadcast begins shortly" for an unknown period counts as 'fun' 🙃

I'm using a Samsung GalaxyPad2 to cast to a Chromecast connected to my receiver which is driving my TV. It's all rather new and TBH slightly bewildering technology as far as I'm concerned.

You can use the slider within the app that is casting and that will work but its pretty much guess work at the moment where you will end up :-( As there is no slide view of what is going a la youtube or netflix you're stuck guessing where you need to be... I'd rather like a visual fast forward/rewind option but I suspect streaming cannot support that due to latency, e.g. my centralised tv server distributed to Kodi front ends via a wired 1gbe lan will only do x8 FF/RWD without issues due to the latency of getting the data from the server... Internet will be even worse.

Are we going to be inundated with ad breaks during this weekend's F1 live race coverage?

It is like going back 10 years or more with Sky and TVNZ ☹

We watched last weekend's race on Duke, only to have our viewing interrupted at least 3 times for advertisements 😒

I watched some of FP1 early this morning and there were at least 2 breaks for ads.

So I ask my question again.

ARE WE GOING TO GET ADVERTISEMENTS DURING THE LIVE RACE COVERAGE?

No. Duke is playing the ads not spark sport.

Watch the content on spark sports for the best experience.
