I'm particularly interested in whether it has a physical ethernet port (not just WiFi like the Chromecast) and whether it has a web browser that can play streaming flash videos (or one can be side loaded). That's the one thing I need that my WD Live won't do. I have a Hauppauge Broadway hooked up to my network, rooftop antenna and Sky box etc. This has a DLNA server that lets me stream the imput to my PC in the study, my phone (droid) and my tablet (droid), as well as change channels and control recording etc. Unfortunately, the WD Live in the bedroom will "see" the DLNA server, but not handle the output.

If this will work, at that pricing I would be keen.

Keenly looking forward to reviews when people have them in their hot little hands.....

They are out in America already so lots of reviews out. You can sideload any app you like to it, so a browser souldn't be a problem. A browser with flash support is a little more tricky (unless things have changed since i last done it, is an ancient version of dolphin still required??). The only thing is getting a compatible usb/bluetooh keyboard and mouse.

just another STB/netflix service I stumbled upon while checking out google tvs. engadget or someone said samsung tvs wouldnt allow an adult service like Fyre TV on their platform but it was available on google tv and roku.

turns out its basically a "netflix for porn", and runs on a few device and they have their own STB. prices seem quite expensive though, you pay per studio. but i guess their market is a lot smaller than netflix.

So have I got this right

Fyre + TV = orgasm
Fire + TV = freitasm

I always thought there was something suss about that login name

I must admit I would be tempted but I have so many devices now that can access those services viz.

Google TV (but that's slow)
PS3
Sony BD player
Roku

it would seem to be redundant. Plus for some reason on both VF cable (I had 130Mbs second) and now on Telecom VDSL2+ I have never had decent performance from Amazon Instant Video while I can get SuperHD on Netflix and the top resolution on Vudu,

One interesting comparison that Amazon makes with other streaming devices seems wrong also.

It says the Roku 3 can't do DD+ but on my earlier Roku 2 XS I can get DD+ and have heard it on Vudu and Netflix. Did they remove that facility on the Roku 3?

I might just grab one, my WD TV live is so slow that it makes using it quite painful. Does anyone know whether this can stream off a network share or does it have to be content from their cloud service?

It has an ethernet port so it's already one step better than the chromecast.

The remote control needs no IR. Why would you want an IR port?

Or use a universal IR remote like a Harmony or Global Cache IR repeater system. That's the thing I like about the Roku 2. While the remote is BT so you can play Angry Birds, it also has an IR receiver in it.

Yup my HT gear is all in a cupboard and operated by a single universal remote so IR is important to me.
