But I have got the geo restriction error on the newsroom.

Looks like they need to work on their catalogue display for each region. Still early days :)

Could also be the certain CDNs haven't got the updates correctly for each region

Hmmm..... Definitely a difference between the Xbox catalogue and the Android app catalogue.

It does look like the Xbox app is hard coded to a particular region

Will investigate further ....

Does sound like a different catalogue Clint, I can confirm PS4 app doesn't have The Newsroom on it.

Yep the website matches my Android app as well

Hopefully they will have a new Xbox app out soon that will be available worldwide and will pull the correct catalogue

Just found out that my Amazon Prime subscription rolled over in June through my mum's CC so I didn't know and she didn't mention about an 'unknown' charge in her card... Haven't logged in a while too since I moved to NZ (used to do Amazon shopping through a forwarder in my previous country) =D Could have saved money by not subscribing to NF!

Looking forward to watching shows again!

OK.....  after a bit of playing around ( note this is just based on what i see on apps, not traffic or packet sniffing)

Amazon appears to have two separate systems, but both use the same amazon account for authentication and purchasing a prime subscription on any system enables it on all systems:

* Amazon Instant Video, Amazon Video - US,UK - possibly other countries haven't checked - www.amazon.com, www.amazon.co.uk

   - Offers Rental and purchase of TV and Movies, and Unlimited streaming on most titles with Prime sub or Prime Movies Sub

   - Each region has its own catalogue and no data ( watchlist, continue watching etc ) is shared across the regions

   - Each region has its own Xbox App ( and possibly Android, IOS etc not able to test) that is HARD CODED to that regions catalogue ie download the app from the UK Xbox store, only see the UK catalogue

* Amazon Prime Video - www.primevideo.com

 - Offers Streaming Video only to over 200 countries

 - Not sure if catalogues different from region to region

 - Apps available for iOS, Andriod, some smart TVs, Web

So the Amazon Video apps available in the Xbox store will only access the AIV/AV catalogues and will required an unblocking service.

But the good news is that you can actually install both the UK and US version of the Xbox app, the only trouble is it is hard to tell the difference :)

Once the app is loaded, press the Menu button and in the bottom right corner it will say en-GB or en-US depending on the version of the app

Hopefully Amazon will get a Prime Video app out soon for the Xbox

Clint

Ive got amazon up amd running on my samsung tv in the bedroom all good except the forced subtitles are in french! Ive tried googling but cant find how to get them in english. When i go into subtitles during playback i can either have the subtitles off language =default or on where language = french. Even though they are switched off i still get some titles come up on the screen.
Watching the Grand tour and every sign in the background comes up with french subtitle. More annoying on the man in the high castle. When the japanese talk in japanese the subtitles are in french!

Any suggestions how to fix this. Dont seem to get it on the roku im the living room.

Hi,

Any way of getting profiles for each member of the family on prime video like Netflix?
I log into Netflix and each member of my family has their own profile full of what they want to watch.
I cant seem to find any option like that.
Is there one?

Thanks

Watched a few episodes of The Grand Tour and downloaded Ace Ventura to my phone to watch.

So far, and with the content I'll keep it, I have free Light Box that I rarely use, but for not a lot Amazon Prime looks good.

I will cancel after trial, too much dicking around to get it to play on anything other than a phone.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

So I have the Prime Video App on my iPhone. Can stream directly to the Apple TV from within the App, so all good for viewing on the big screen (I signed up to the 30 day free trial for The Grand Tour).

What confuses me is the catalog. There is heaps of shows and movies there that say included with Prime, but when you try and you get a Service Area Restriction message.

What exactly do we have access to as NZ users and why does the Catalog show a heap of stuff we can't actually watch?

Well I'm really having no trouble at all! It works really well although the stream is perhaps not quite as stable as Netflix.

I signed up at Primevideo.com using my Amazon account (with my NZ address).

I was initially watching video just using the web browser on my Microsoft Surface which was connected to the TV via HDMI, but after searching I found the LG App for our LG Smart TV which works well.

I have been watching the Grand Tour in 4k Ultra HD and HDR all weekend.

I have not struck any geo restrictions, probably the app only lists what is available in NZ.

Using the app on the PS3 I get the NZ content (amazon account is NZ address, using Getflix for US)

Can't get xbox (360) app, have a US based gamer tag, region is set to US and Getflix aswell, still rejects saying region error.

1 Sony Blu-ray player - gets and plays the US content (movies Sicario, Creed, Terminator Genysis, Spectre etc for example are not on NZ), despite being linked to my NZ Amazon account

Other Sony Blu-ray player gets NZ content (NZ Amazon account).

Getlflix is set at the router

Seems strange that different devices connected to the same network (all wired) get different play options.

Getting Amazon to work on the BD players seems to have borked Netflix, which is no longer connecting at all (ran the test, says connects to Netflix server 1 but not Netflix server 2, so rejects the connection).

A real mixed bag of success / failure. I hope Amazon release the app on the BD players worldwide soon as if I change regions (IE remove Getflix DNS from the router) the app disappears altogether.
