My stream on Motor Trend has been dropping from HD to SD a bit... and I just had about 10 seconds of no picture or sound.

But apart from that, it seems workable.

Used Fanpass on iPhone 8 and it was perfect for the whole event. No buffering or drop outs.

Watched start to finish with zero issues on Fanpass.

Also gig fibre

I made sure I changed DNS to the 2degrees instead of dns4me to make sure there was no isues with that front...

Now next year, lets get Fanpass with minimum 1080p and proper 5.1 audio

Did the host broadcast provide a 5.1 audio feed? The Foxtel Now feed (which I watched) was only in stereo.

Not sure, but running 4K with stereo sounds pretty funny....

There is so much irony in the fact that 7-8 years ago when TV3 covered Bathurst that it was in HD with 5.1 sound. We move forward and backwards at the same time.

Watched it via SkyGo and had decent coverage the entire race, only dropped out once for about 5s.

Was yours heavily interlaced?  SkyGo for me was borderline useless in terms of horizontal line artefacts across all movement.

Has been playing up like this in the last month or so, and wondered if anyone else was experiencing this.

Might need to update the version I'm using.

Assume these guys are legit to source the latest apk from?

I watched the Sky Go (SS4) feed on my Samsung S7 when I was away from the tele for about 10 minutes. It was heavily interlaced, not so bad that I would say it was useless, but definitely the quality was poorer than it was in the past.

Ah right, that's good to know.

From memory I've seen this a bit over the last month or so, and I seem to recall it was on some channels and not others, so not a global change in SkyGo output.

It was watchable, but reading even the left hand side grid position info was difficult at times, and all movement a blurry mess (well beyond just low bitrate blocky compression or low resolution problems).

I spent a bit of time playing with alternative options.

  • Various flash web streams were mostly bad quality and lots of buffering, dropouts, reloads required etc.
  • VLC + stream links were better than the web streams, but still lots of buffering and dropouts.
  • Twitch, reasonable quality, no noticeable buffering or dropouts.
  • Sodaplayer + an acestream link produced the best overall result for me.

Didn't try VPN + motortrend
