These are very useful but can anyone recommend a good guide for them? It is hard to sift through all the rubbish.

I just started getting this as well. Apparently some (not all) devices have updated and are now enforcing HTTPS. Try checking your Simple PVR configuration and see if the XML url is HTTP or HTTPS. Our esteemed mod @michaelmurphy pointed this out to me and changing to HTTPS fixed the problem.

Technical changes by Cloudflare caused significant issues with HTTP access to any site using them - metadata sources, for example - and we need to put in a quick workaround before everyone gets too upset

I have been enjoying the film channels added here recently. All except one work fine for me. The exception is HBO West. The video is often choppy, but I can usually work around that by fiddling with the bit rate. A much bigger problem is the audio, which seems to be always badly out of sync. It appears to lag the video by more than 10 seconds. I can’t be exactly sure, because I can’t advance it more than 10 seconds. 

I just spent the day playing with this. I tried Kodi Simple Client and TVI Mate. I tried different generic Android boxes, Nvidia Shield, and Kodi on Windows. All behave pretty much the same. This is a pity, as the content on HBO West interests me the most. 

I would like to compare experiences. Does anyone else have this? Does anyone know what might cause it? I am on a rural WISP and do not have fibre, but I get 29 Mbps down pretty solidly and other streams work fine. Only HBO West seems to have these issues. 

I checked it around 11.10pm it was playing fine on 100mbit fibre, of course it could be under a much higher load in the NZ daytime.

I see there is a kodi 18.8 to 18.9 stable update, also an update to inputadaptive addon

nah its bugged, knew it on day one, reducing quality helps a bit, watch HBO East instead, is basically a 'delay 1 hour' version of HBO West..
