Can someone in the know tell me why fast forward and rewind doesn't/can't work the same way that Sky works?

Latency for the seek. My 1gb wired network recorder using tvheadend via kodi can only seek at x8 speed before it can't fill the buffer fast enough and Internet latencies are higher... This is one of my major bugbear rs with online sport delivery

You''ll have to explain yourself some more.

As in, I didn't think you could ff/rwd a live satellite broadcast.  🤣

So I assume you mean a recorded file on mysky vs an ondemand asset.

And do you mean fast forward as in watching the video file at 30x speed or some such, as opposed to jumping to a point in time on a time bar?

I use a remote to control Netflix on my Shield TV.

There was an interview with the SS lead on radio tonight (forgot to retune after news simulcast. Don't hate me)

Stated 9 apps at launch. Incl 4 major brand tv apps.

Take it as you will. Given we know how broad the OS's are on them with the move to droid.

(feeling the elderly customer base pinch? - more pool matches (random countries) and confirmed  FTA delays)

Have we seen a list of clients intended to be built? ie Apple TV, Samsung TV, Android TV (Sony/LG,ShieldTV)

Not sure if you’re implying/thinking LG use Android - but they don’t - use WebOS.

Yep, pretty much.

TCL is AndroidTV, as are the nVidia Shields and some of the AliX streaming boxes.

IMO, they'll get AppleTV and AndroidTV done pretty quick, as (for AppleTV anyway) then customers can go to their local electronics store and buy a box (there are no AndroidTV boxes for sale in mainstream NZ stores are there?).

Mi Box in the Xiomi store in Sylvia Park, nVidia shield at PBTech, Sony TVs across the main consumer suppliers I think are the main ones

Did I read somewhere that Samsung will have their app out in May, for TV's aged 2016 and newer?

EDIT : yes I did, here is the link, Samsung mentioned almost at the end of the article.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=12222903

Smart TVs

Spark Sport is not currently available to watch using an app on Smart TVs. Once again, the company says it is working to introduce this functionality onto a number of different TV makes and models. Samsung will add Spark Sport to its Smart TV app line up in May, supporting models going back to 2016.

The MiBox and Shield are parallel imports though - no 'official' support for them here, therefore NZ based streaming companies won't develop for them. Having said that, if it works on the Sony, it should work on those.

Is the MiBox parallel imported? According to Benoire it's sold in the Mi Store in Sylvia Park. I don't actually see it on the website but assuming they're correct it seems weird for it to be considered a parallel import. Yes I know that PB Tech run that store, but I would have assumed part of their agreement with Xiaomi to operate a Mi Store in NZ is that they can only sell products which Xiaomi and PB Tech agree are officially supported and sold in NZ. If this isn't the case that's just strange, who thinks they're buying a parallel imported Xiaomi from an official Mi Store?

Whether NZ streaming companies want to support if is of course still up to them. If the market base is too small, PB Tech and Xiaomi are probably not going to be able to convince them otherwise. I mean I'm sure Xiaomi could easily throw enough money to make it happen, but it's unlikely they care enough.

There is also the Freeview Recorder Dish TV A2 and the Dish TV SmartVU X which are powered by Android TV.
