I am using DNS4ME to access the US catalogue - maybe give them a try

It seems like the different apps are hard coded to different catalogues, hopefully Amazoon can eventually sort out the mess that is their apps

I use an Amazon Fire TV and have been for a couple of years now. All US content with a DNS service and US account.

Sounds like that is still the best way to do it rather than signing up to the nz one.

Anybody managed to get the app on Xbox 360? Seems to still be region locked. It shows up on the US Catalog but as soon as I sign into my NZ live account it disappears.

Can I sign up in NZ with a NZ credit/debit card and then use a smart DNS provider to access the US catalogue? If so it would sure beat the current method of mucking around with gift vouchers to pay for the US catalogue.

Cheers. So best to stick with the US version then.

But that is exactly what has happened with my Blu-ray player connection, NZ account, US catalog, but only on the Blu-ray players, PS3 is NZ account. Weird, but I'm not complaining...

I have cancelled my Netflix subscription and started an Amazon Prime Video one instead. After about a year with Netflix we have seen most of the movies we wanted to see. I wonder how many other Netflix customers are doing the same? I always support the underdog so Amazon Prime gets my vote for now - and it's cheaper too!

Like you, my kids have seen every movie (that they are interested in) on Netflix at least once, and many of those multiple times.

I have thought about having subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, but then thought I could rotate through them with a month or 3 with each. But then again, I don't want telly to be the centre of my family's life, and am very tempted to ditch our telly when we move house in the new year. There seems to be an inverse correlation between the amount of screen time my kids have and their behaviour/happiness.

I enjoyed Amazon Prime (US version) for the documentaries and unlike Netflix it has movie previews (trailers).
On Amazon, my wife liked Under the Dome and I liked The Man in the High Castle, although I never finished watching the series.

Too many restrictions, this won't beat Netflix.

Has anyone managed to get a FireTV box working with NZ Amazon Prime Video?  My box is set to the US and I am not using a geo-unblocking service.  Deregistered the box from my account and did a factory reset.  It then worked initially but then the next day comes up with the "Something wrong with your account 5505 error).  Did they same again and it worked again for a short period.  Contacted Amazon and as you imagine it is not supported in NZ.

blakamin:

They don't have an app for android TV (probably due to them running the firestick, fireTV etc).

BUT... If you have a Sony (2015+) android TV (and probably nVidia shield), grab the latest Amazon Video APK from apkmirror.com, install it from a USB stick, and enjoy originals in UltraHD and HDR without having to do anything except signing in. DON'T FOLLOW THE BS RUNAROUND on XDA for "Prime Video Launcher". It's a bucket of fail.

It even shows as Sony Android TV in my registered devices.

Now back to the show! (notice the red circle telling you what quality it's running)

link doesnt work for me, says not found.  searching "Amazon" on apkmirror comes up with zero results...

Update: oh amazon told them to take them all down.  saw it here

Have you gone to your Amazon account on their website and checked your country settings?
