I'm still struggling to understand why (assuming it is broadcast at 60 FPS) Spark Sport are broadcasting rugby at 60 FPS rather than 50. 60 FPS support does seem to be an issue with some devices, and is potentially leading to some of the issues people are having.

When the TVNZ playout is at 50 FPS why is this then being converted to 60 FPS for Spark Sport? It makes zero sense.

It's 50fps Steve. Everyone still refers to it as 60fps though

Content that Sparksport gets In 60fps they supply it in that rate to be clear.

Even though you don't speak in an official capacity you're the only person who has inferred this. Spark Sport themselves insist the RWC feed is 60 FPS and not 50 FPS.

If they don't understand the difference between 50 / 60 FPS and the significance of this it's no wonder they can't get other things right.

50 or 60FPS makes Zero difference, 25/30 or 50/60 makes all the difference.

I disagree entirely. There is a huge difference between 50 FPS and 60 FPS content, particularly if that content was in 50 FPS as is the case of the RWC feed after TVNZ post production. To convert it to 60 FPS means interpolating frames, and if you then have a 60 FPS being played back on a device and then into a TV that may not be locked at 60Hz you do run the risk of judder and motion issues.

This is not the "non issue" some think it is, and with no official clarity from Spark Sport over whether they are broadcasting at 50 or 60 (every comment I've got from them insists it is 60 but I'm not 100% convinced some people even realise the difference) we can only but speculate.

It's great that Spark are dealing with this the way they are, but IMHO the simple reality is the RWC has been a disaster for them no matter how you want to dress it up.

Watched last night on ATV (HD, not 4K). Flawless in game. Did get a buzzing noise about halfway into the first half, but that was obviously part of the feed (I've seen commenters elsewhere blaming Spark for it).

Pity they can't seem to fix the video pauses during the adverts. Has happened for me since day one. Happens in the Studio crosses too.

Just received notification from SS that my partial refund has been paid back to my credit card. Checked my credit card and it went in on Tuesday.

I know, that is quite bizarre. As they are created post source, as the production is at TVNZ, and it then goes to iSP, you would have thought it would be easy to tidy that up

I stayed up and watched the game last night, but Himself piked out and went to bed.

This morning he cant watch the Canada game, when I start the feed and select "watch from beginning" it starts at around the 2hr20 mark during the post game analysis.

Has anyone had this issue before? Not complaining, just wondering if it is just me or more widespread.

Edit : watching using Kodi+Matt add-on

robfish: I am really peeved off this morning. I got up early to watch the full match from last night (ABs vs Canada) but the "full match" is only the after match report.

I watched the 1st half live, but when I tried to watch the 2nd half via kodi this morning, this is the same thing that happened to me.  However, when I played via my phone or via the web browser, everything worked ok.

Watched the ABs last night. No problemo.

I do pity Spark Sport being inundated with complaints blaming them for dodgy WiFi or internet connections.

because it simplifies the conversation. I'll pull you out an official source though as spark sport have detailed this in the past.

Thanks for the feedback on last night's game all, the folk watching out certainly do appreciate hearing it.

Personally during the first AB game I saw the same buffering that everyone else seemed to see. Last nights game (Firefox on W10 first half, android app second half) I did not notice any issues whatsoever, it was clean and smooth.

I can confirm the same behaviour using Kodi, that's good to know, I'll be very careful if I want to watch any games on demand. All the other games seem to be ok, it's just last night's AB's game.

I appreciate that it's not a supported scenario, so no gripes from me!

I'll take the risk to enjoy the game in the best quality over the crap quality from the spark sport app though.
