I can confirm the same behaviour using Kodi, that's good to know, I'll be very careful if I want to watch any games on demand. All the other games seem to be ok, it's just last night's AB's game.

I appreciate that it's not a supported scenario, so no gripes from me!

I'll take the risk to enjoy the game in the best quality over the crap quality from the spark sport app though.

yeah. It would be great if it was easy to get everyone on supported devices, but thats not easy. Or to use a standard 30fps, but in sport that's less than ideal as we all know. In your case its probably a case of your device isnt 100%, but its not bad, and Kodi bypassed the frame rate lock. But if its slightly marginal you have found a way to use it, which is good

I watched the game on a laptop hot spotted from my smartphone. Stream was near perfect, was expecting a few problems on mobile data but very impressed.

The only glitches I noted last night (NZ V CANADA) were during the ads at half time, so who cares (ATV4 Spark fibre).

The buzzing noise was evident at the start on the TVNZ transmission as well, so not really a Spark streaming problem, but that’s not news.

Im surprised the media aren’t blaming Spark for the ABs dropping the slippery ball.

Even though you don't speak in an official capacity you're the only person who has inferred this. Spark Sport themselves insist the RWC feed is 60 FPS and not 50 FPS.

If they don't understand the difference between 50 / 60 FPS and the significance of this it's no wonder they can't get other things right.

because it simplifies the conversation. I'll pull you out an official source though as spark sport have detailed this in the past.

I've just checked with somebody and as confirmed in the other thread on here (and documentation provided by Spark Sport) they are definitely broadcasting at 60FPS.

Thank you. Is that RWC, or also Spark Sport, or is the latter dependent on each event, i.e. F1 might be 60 but Heinekin Rugby, might be 60 or 50 or 30 or 25?

Steve, sorry if this is a dumb question but how does that explain people reporting jitter at 60Hz on ATV and Chromecast but not at 50Hz.... surely 60Hz should be correct.

Are they? If they get the source at 60, they should add content at 60, send it to iSP who encodes it at 60, send it back and broadcast at 60, although TVNZ woudl broadcast at 50 (25i)?

I understood the system to be:

Source provider > TVNZ > iStreamPlanet > Akamai (Spark Sport)

Its TVNZ who do the initial changes, inserting ads etc. before its then sent offshore... unless I've read that bit wrong?

There is some logical deduction but yes I'd imagine we're mainly 'guessing' based on what we have gleamed so far.

This morning he cant watch the Canada game, when I start the feed and select "watch from beginning" it starts at around the 2hr20 mark during the post game analysis.

Has anyone had this issue before? Not complaining, just wondering if it is just me or more widespread.

Had this problem also and have struck a few times. But this is a known issues. If using latest matt h plugin, pops up a notice about it. Something about multi URLS in the stream.

Also noticed issue with fast forwarding watching live game feed. After watching say the first half and want to skip ahead, it will go back to point where you fast forwarded. I typically watch a hour behind. So I just have to stop video, play again and can then skip to point I want to watch.

Chromecast ultra backup when kodi doesn't work.

@outdoorsnz Thank you. I got him watching via Samsung TV app, that was OK.

I swapped from Samsung TV app to Shield+Kodi+Matt when I discovered I couldn't swap from the app to Sky decoder and back again without buggering up the app. Tricky when Himself is a chronic channel surfer.

If I use the Shield, this is not a problem.

I can use Shield for live and TV app for replay, that works for me.

Delete cookies?! Are you insane?!

I think its

Source provider > TVNZ > iStreamPlanet > Akamai > RSP (Spark, Voda, 2D etc etc)

Spark Sport own it and watch over everything

Yep I didn't add the RSP stuff in as I thought that was clear, added Spark Sport under the Akamai bit as the app controls access to the streams but you are correct in that the whole process is controlled by Spark Sport as the responsible entity.
