Tried two PC's one with hosts file, the other with your DNS servers.

Hi astrae

I have just tried it from a server in the USA and i could access and watch from jump in, do you have the URL to one of the shows that wasn't working?

Thanks

If anyone was interested, I successfully unlocked the geo-blocked content on hdtracks with the help of the DNS logger.  Now have the site working fine.

Also, figured out how to edit the hosts file for a gargoyle router using WinSCP.

For hdtracks, just needed to add 2 entries to Custom Domains.

Hi Jason,

Just read the note on the services page about setting your timezone to Sydney. I did this and it worked. Quite surprised they are checking that from the browser.

cheers

Hi Guys

I have just finished doing a howto set-up a TP-LINK TL-WR703N with DD-WRT and to make it work with dns4me, setting up a system like this will bypass hardcoded DNS settings in the latest android Netflix client.
Check it out its super easy and gives you the best streaming performance and your not using an external DNS.

https://dns4me.net/guides/dd-wrt-custom-device/page-1

If you have a DD-WRT router you can jump to page 3 for the commands to make it work with dns4me.

Thanks

Hi Jason,

At 4:58pm on Friday 26th September 2014 there has been an outage of your NZ and AU servers.

My internet cut out (but I could still ping `8.8.8.8`) so I did the standard step by step checks and found that your NZ and AU servers were not responding to DNS requests.

I have since switch to use the NZ and USA servers, the USA server is working so I have everything back up and running.

I performed tests using `nslookup` in Command Prompt (with manually setting servers using the `server` option) and all queries to the NZ and AU servers timed out.

Cheers.

Thanks for letting us know.
We just patched the servers against the "shellshocked" bash exploit and it looks like the dns server may have been mid update which mangled the configs.
The NZ server is back up, im just fixing the Sydney server now.

Thanks

dmatthew: Hi
I've been trying dns4me for over a week now and really liking it so far.
The only thing I've noticed is that "Demand Five" is not working on Xbox one. Is it supported? I've also tried "4oD" and it seems to be working well.

Cheers
Dennis

Hi Dennis

We don't have an Xbox One to try it out (could be a good excuse to buy one), if your up to the challenge you can enable dns logging, then restart your Xbox one and open up the demand5 app, refresh the logger after a minute and you should see all the domains its trying to access override the ones that look like they belong to demand5 (to the UK server) restart the Xbox and see if its working once you find the culprit domain let me know and ill add it to the service.

Thanks
Jason k

Hi Jason,

I ran the dns logger and identified the domain that i needed to redirect. Once I added the override and restarted the Xbox One, demand5 is working perfectly.
I have PMed you the domain name.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Dennis

Big thanks for locating the domains for SBS and Demand5 on Xbox.

I have added both to the services now.

Thanks

A quick question / suggestion for the "Zones" tab of the user console & DDNS:

In the "IP/Dynamic DNS" box it displays one's numerical IPV4 address, despite having entered and saved a named web address, either DDNS or a static webserver name e.g "myname.mydns.org" previously.

Behind the scenes, is the named DDNS or static web address actually saved/in use?

As it is, the numeric IP address only is displayed.

If the DDNS/static name *are* used (and I'm assuming they are) perhaps the "IP/Dynamic DNS" box could indicate this somehow by displaying both e.g. "123.45.67.89 / myname.mydns.org"
