Hmmm...

We watched "Mozart in the Jungle" s1 - quite enjoyed it.

s2 has all the episodes listed (available since 2015) - but hey - there's no "play button" enabled and no message to say why it isn't available.  This using a PC / win 10 and no VPN.

I wasn't too impressed with streaming quality, though to be fair I have a dodgy VDSL modem at the moment - but Netflix streaming quality seems to be much better.

Another one here who is not impressed with streaming quality. Drops to SD quite often, where Hulu and Netflix never have problems.

Update: oh amazon told them to take them all down.  saw it here

Jeez, you'd think they'd be happy with people paying... oh well, if it fails on mine (kids are watching plex so can't check right now), it'll be back to piracy and a cancelled account.

:edit: Paused "Elf"

Amazon still works so the APK hasn't been blocked.

I used to have that problem when I used Unotelly as my DNS service but switched to Getflix and now it's all HD..

Has anyone managed to get a FireTV box working with NZ Amazon Prime Video?  My box is set to the US and I am not using a geo-unblocking service.  Deregistered the box from my account and did a factory reset.  It then worked initially but then the next day comes up with the "Something wrong with your account 5505 error).  Did they same again and it worked again for a short period.  Contacted Amazon and as you imagine it is not supported in NZ.

Have you gone to your Amazon account on their website and checked your country settings?
https://www.amazon.com/mn/dcw/myx.html#/home/settings/payment

I had exactly the same behaviour on my FireTV as rabba, and changing country settings made no difference. Clearing data/cache on the Amazon Video app didn't help. Factory reset worked, but only for a day, and then doing another reset fixed it again, but have cancelled now, so not sure if it still works.

When it did work, the content was much more limited than the browser. Grand Tour played ok, but other content like Mozart in the Jungle came up with a Geo IP error.

Been too busy to even try having a look at this for several days now. Will have a look at my Sony tomorrow - it's on the supported list so hopefully the app has turned up. Will check the Sammy too but it's not on the list so I'm not hopeful.

I usually stream everything through my Apple TV so Prime Video is the only service used on PS4. The speeds shown in my PS4 connection test are are only 1/6 of other devices in my house so it may be some sort of PS4 problem as opposed to Prime Video problem.

I do agree, I had streaming problems with Unotelly which were fixed as soon as I changed to Getflix.

Funny. I did a Getflix/Amazon trial a few weeks ago and thought the streaming quality was pretty rubbish compared with the other services, so I didn't bother to subscribe. Maybe it has just improved since after the official launch in NZ?

PS: Goliath was pretty good.

Yes app on my Sony in last day or so.

Content a bit lacking compared to other options, and streaming picture quality struggles to get near HD (while netflix maintans HD most of the time)  . So for now wont bother subscribing.

Is there a reason why NZ does not have season 2 of Amazon original shows like Man in the High Castle.

Id think original shows would be available regardless of region. But I can only see season 1. There seems like almost no content to watch on Amazon as far. My count only about 20 tv shows and half of them on other services.

Edit: Interesting thats the case though Prime Video page. But if I go to normal Amazon web page season 2 is listed and I can watch it.

So confusing. Prime Video and Amazon must be totally different to what the same account can watch.

So I figured I'll give this a go (I've previously been a netflix subscriber)

I have two devices connected to my non-smart TV

Xbox 360 - google tells me there's an Amazon Video app for my 360 but I can't find it. Figure it must be a NZ region setting. Damn.

Android media box - install Amazon Prime app and sign in easy enough. Navigation is a bit of a pain using the remote. Try and watch a video - get a stupid "unfortunately prime video has stopped working" error message.

Plan C is to hook up the laptop via HDMI but that's a pain.

Plan D is to move the chromecast from the bedroom tv and use one of the workarounds to cast to it from my phone

Any other suggestions?

Is there a global search website for Amazon Prime like there is for Netflix: unogs.com? It would be nice to know what the other 200 countries have in their catalogue.

Mine takes a couple of minutes but ramps up to UltraHD no worries... On Aussie cable.
