I keep watching hoping for something compelling to happen to get me involved, hasn't happened yet, probably give it one more episode and then let it go.

I'm happy enough. Lorca is looking interesting......the Admiral is out there somewhere, too....and Michael Burnham doesn't really understand yet what's really going on. I can see where the season ending cliff-hanger is going.

Yep, they are hardly a cohesive crew are they. I agree, Lorca is by far the most interesting character - ruthless, quite machiavellian, and probably quite unstable. Kinda difficult to see where they are going at this stage. I'm hanging in there but its a very different type of Star Trek to those who have gone boldly before... Takes a bit of adjusting.

OT but I'd just like to say the latest episode of The Orville is genius (the one with the social media storyline).

Not sure I'd go as far as genius but certainly pretty good - very similar to the plot of one of the Black Mirror episodes but was really well done and topical.

I agree, it was an excellent episode.

I too thought they'd lifted the like/dislike idea from Black Mirror, but then I read somewhere that Black Mirror had actually copied the idea from an even earlier story (can't remember where from).

Episode one was like a B grade Star Trek. I'll give it a go for a while though, I've watched and rewatched all the others, other than DS9 which is pretty monotonous.

Saw episode seven last night - obligatory "time-loop" episode, Groundhog Dayish.

I thought it was pretty good!

Better than TNG one (three dots on Riker's rank insignia was the key), not as good as SG1's though, hitting golf balls into the stargate - classic!!

Now based in Perth WA.

A two part episode! This series is really starting to try my patience. The characters lack depth and the plot is pretty random (particularly the Klingons but not only them). Did they just waste the whole investment and build up of the Admirals's character? I was hoping to begin to see some sort of long game - some future payoff for all the setup and general disagreeability of the characters we are being asked to endure but its not coming through. I feel that I'll give it one final chance but this is really starting to feel like a ST dead end rather than any sort of new beginning. I'm sure many other will disagree and if so then good luck to you - each to their own but this series not not seem to have any real future.

Heh I found this out when searching why it wasn't there at 8pm

Seems only 9 EPs then 10-15 are Jan/Feb allowing for post production to catch up

Season will now be split after first 9 episodes instead of 8

When the premiere date for Star Trek: Discovery was announced CBS revealed the fifteen episode season would be broken into two “chapters” with the first eight episodes airing between September and November and the final seven beginning in January of 2018. Today they announced the first chapter will be comprised of nine episodes with the final episode of chapter one debuting on Sunday, Nov. 12. The second chapter, featuring the remaining six episodes, will return in January 2018.

That's what we get for being up to date with the US. Remember when we used to be years behind but at least a whole season played pretty much uninterrupted.

These days we get mid season breaks and weeks skipped due to holidays, Super bowl and sometimes skipped short notice due to scheduling conflicts.
