Plex, Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, Prime Video, Disney+... You name - it's not app dependant. It is almost like all the apps use a single API to play video and that single API is failing all over.

There is a single api to handle the video playback when it uses DRM.

Which generation stick?

It's the Cube Fire TV first generation, not the stick.

Can you check how much storage you have free? My sticks got a bit cranky when Kodi used up all the storage.

Specs aren't that different to my 3rd Gen FireTV which has been running fine.

So, I see the 2021 Max 4K Firestick has been released. Trying to work out the best way to get it here given they won't ship direct for now. Is youshop still a viable option?

Last time I've used YouShop they asked me for a copy of the invoice via email, even though there were two printed invoices attached to the box. So make sure you have access to digital copies of your invoice.

Anyone manage to buy 4k stick from Amazon or another retailer?

https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0872Z1TBP

whenever I change the address to NZ address, it says Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

No, but I just ordered 2 x 4K Max Sticks from Amazon sent to youshop. 2 x sticks cost me $52 in shipping and GST, plus the cost of the sticks which makes my landed cost around $105 per stick. Great value overall :)

It's been released by youshop but who knows when it will arrive in NZ, they are listing a 2 week delay for most parcels shipped airfreight.

Frustratingly, the last 3 tracking updates from youshop have been :

Ready to send.

International Departure

Ready to send.

Not sure what to make of that.

Buy them from Amazon in the US and use youshop as above.

The fire stick max is ~US$55 there.

Hi guys,

I am looking at getting the new amazon fire stick, however, I have realised some/most features may not be available here in New Zealand. My main motive is to replace my Chromecast with the firestick so I can use my Alexa voixce assistance to turn on the tv and go to youtube or Netflix. Will this functionality work? Will I need a VPN? Or is it simply not worth the hassle for what I am after and should stick to chrome cast?

Seems like a great device but isn't supported in New Zealand.

I use my Amazon Fire TV with a US Amazon account via a DNS account. 99% of the time I can get most things.

There’s not much that won’t work. Certainly Netflix and YouTube work everywhere in the world.

Esp with the black Friday specials, the firestick is an unbelievable value. I use Netflix, Disney+, Food TV, and Plex, extensively and it works really well.

The new remote alone is worth the price of admission.

The only issue I have now, is that with my LG TV and Fire TV, I do not have access to Google Play Movies nor Apple TV content as neither of them have the play store. It's the only thing I a missing from my Android TV I had before.
