So I figured I'll give this a go (I've previously been a netflix subscriber)

I have two devices connected to my non-smart TV

Xbox 360 - google tells me there's an Amazon Video app for my 360 but I can't find it. Figure it must be a NZ region setting. Damn.

Android media box - install Amazon Prime app and sign in easy enough. Navigation is a bit of a pain using the remote. Try and watch a video - get a stupid "unfortunately prime video has stopped working" error message.

Plan C is to hook up the laptop via HDMI but that's a pain.

Plan D is to move the chromecast from the bedroom tv and use one of the workarounds to cast to it from my phone

Any other suggestions?

Your plan D method worked for me.l,vandroid phone casting screen.
With Windows 10 on the laptop I get geo error.

Mozart in the Jungle Series 1 to 3 are available on Lightbox in HD where there are no problems with the stream breaking up or dropping to SD.

I don't know where the Amazon Prime Video servers supplying content to NZ are located but I have to assume the streaming issues that I and others are reporting must relate to demand outstripping supply since the other streaming services work with no problems.

The two Xbox apps still work as before with DNS4me on :)

bbunnys:

Is there a reason why NZ does not have season 2 of Amazon original shows like Man in the High Castle.

Id think original shows would be available regardless of region. But I can only see season 1. There seems like almost no content to watch on Amazon as far. My count only about 20 tv shows and half of them on other services.

Edit: Interesting thats the case though Prime Video page. But if I go to normal Amazon web page season 2 is listed and I can watch it.

So confusing. Prime Video and Amazon must be totally different to what the same account can watch.

This is frustrating as I wanted to take both seasons on my iPad to watch while away, yet can only download season 1.

Have asked Amazon customer help why this might be so and they have no idea!

I've had an Amazon Prime membership for a while using an unblocker service to access US content. I use PlayStation and Xbox.

Tried accessing the NZ catalog tonight by switching regions but, as others have discovered, the apps only show the US catalog with most of the shows saying "not available in this region".

Until they release an Xbox or Playstation version of the app that is smart enough to load the correct catalog based on your region, or they release different versions of the app for different regions; it is of no use to me.

Launching this to 200 countries without even updating the Xbox and PlayStation apps is ridiculous.

Help I signed up to Amazon prime and Trying to stream a movies through Samsung tv app it only allows me to rent the movie instead. I can watch some shows like grand tour in 4K fine. But most content Listed it wants me to rent? I thought it was a streaming service like Netflix?

Amazon Instant Video is their streaming service. You can rent or buy content there. Amazon Prime is a subscription service that has many features (free shipping in the USA, discounts, photo storage, etc). One of the benefits is Amazon Prime Video - free content you can stream as part of your subscription.

Perhaps the app on your TV does not support Amazon Prime Video?

It's 2016 Samsung ku7000. Can stream grand tour. Sneaky Pete , the man in the high castle and some other Amazon shows fine. But most other content displayed I have to rent?

Is the Samsung app showing me the wrong catalogue for my subscription?

Eg ironman, interstellar, sponge bob I can't stream.

Looks similar to my Sony app

Anything that has the prime banner in the top left corner should be streamable

Nope, cant stream some content, even if has the prime tag. also same problem on iPad app except it displays the watch button, then goes to video unavailable due to geographic licensing restrictions.

bongojona: Still no app for my Samsung 2014 H6300 TV...

Thanks for bumping the thread, I'd gotten busy and forgotten to do some checking... Checks now complete, still can't get Amazon video on either of my TV's so I've just cancelled my subscription and uninstalled the app from my phone.
