The Stream url for an ondemand looked something like this

http://nlds14.cdnak.lon.neulion.com/nlds_vod/coliseum/vod/2013/08/17/4/2_4_stokecity_liverpool_2013_h_discrete_9967_save_1_3000.mp4/00/0000.mp4

if you take away the /00/0000.mp4 you can download the video (which is the whole match). if you change the 3000 to 1600/800/400 you get the different bitrates.

disclaimer: downloading the videos, would break the terms of use you agreed to so I'd advise against it.

PLP really need to add some security rather than just leaving the back door wide open for the world to get in.

I'm trying to see if there is the same loophole in NFL Gamepass, but I'm at uni and the internet is crap. so might have to wait til I'm home.

Edit: yep, can download the games from NFL Gamepass using the same method. Not as serious for NFL gamepass, as it's free to access, but surely once downloaded would still be breaking the copyright.

not if you haven't signed up to PLP, and so have never agreed to any TOU.  :P
...but this might be illegal as it could represent unauthorised access.

(It seems that file is only about 20 seconds long - is the game broken down into lots of little segments you would need to access sequentially?)

Also, I wonder if the individual files are geoblocked, or just the login..... hmmmmmm

LFCNZ: Haven't had a chance to watch any more yet, hopefully have time to watch another game tonight, was there any word on a better rate than 3000 coming?

Form Sam at Collesium Sports in email this morning:
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for your feedback.
We're seriously looking into a 4500kbps stream for the future.
Sam.

Is this an official PLP link?
If so how poor is it that I can just copy and paste that link into my browser and it shows the clip. Im not signed in, or a paying member.

It's not about PLP being poor. it's how's the neulion platform works.  These links normally would not be exposed unless you know how to use some of the developer's tools that can inspect the incoming/outgoing http traffic.  You can always inspect the contents of a http request/response and get what you need.

NFL has the same "issue" as validated by JarrodM.  This is also similar to how you are able to download videos from youtube...etc

I just used that link on my ipad and streamed it to my tv using Appletv. Worked like a charm and actually looked pretty good. Much better than using my mac. PLP said the same thing. Why is that ?

What the heck does "for the future" mean? Next season? In the next few weeks?

I think the idea is that it is open-ended, so as not to back themselves into a corner by saying it'll be available by x date before they have properly figured out how much it'll cost, whether the servers can handle it, how many users can handle it, etc.

Based on it using nearly 3GB for a game @ 3000kbps - I won't be using 4500kbps.

Procrastination eventually pays off.

the app is being reviewed by apple at the moment, shouldn't be too much longer.

Apple always taking ages to review the app, unless you have good connections within Apple...and literally forces you to have a testing environment opened up so that they can play the apps.
