I watched race 3 on Youtube on my Android tablet over Telecom 3G. It was pretty good.

But for some reason on all the PC's I have tried, race 5 (either live or a replay) is now available on Youtube. 1-4 are still available.

Does anybody have any idea why this might the case?  Maybe TVNZ decided to ask Youtube to block the video which would be silly given they are showing free to air anyway.

It was coming up as "Not allowed in your country" - so being geo-blocked :(
Potentially was TVNZ, but who knows...

yea Sucks

As the TVNZ streaming coverage via Akamai was very poor quality.

I had the exact same issue when looking for it this morning, the previous ones I watched fine, and I couldn't even get to the TVNZ website when trying to watch it from tvnz, just times out, pretty poor imo, geoblock it fine, but at least have the ability to serve the demand when everyone hauls onto your site because you are the only one serving it.

There was no reason for that really given it's free to air and how many ads would be lost?

It may be free-to-air, but I'd imagine TVNZ paid more than a few dollars to obtains the rights to show it live for us FTA. They need to protect their investment, and be able to re-coup this cost with advertising, and may not have even realised that YouTube had it live. Similar to when Banshee (TV series) was shown live online here, until Sky TV asked them to remove it.

Out of interest I tried using Unblock-US and switched my Youtube region to the US and still could not watch it. I guess you need a real VPN.

At least it seems I can watch the replay on TVNZ on demand

The americans can't see it via youtube either...as it's broadcast on ESPN for them.  NZ is TVNZ, US is ESPN....everyone else can use the Yumtube feed - this is how I understood is was going to run since the semis.

Youtube Australia has no problems accessing the live feed btw.

You can download the App 'Amercia's Cup"on your Ipad, works very well. I'm sure Android would have it also!
