Hi there

Can anyone advise whether one can access Pandora on the UE Smart Radio here in NZ?

My nephew has been given a Smart Radio for his birthday, and is really keen to access Pandora on it; however, I'm running into problems getting it working here. (I've never come across this problem on my own Smart Radio, given I have converted it to a Squeezebox Radio to work my other Squeezeboxes, and use them all with Spotify.)

We changed his location to "United States" in his Smart Radio account; this allowed access to a significantly increased number of apps for downloading onto the Radio, including Pandora. The site still did give a warning about being outside of NZ, but the application did install and he was able to enter his username/password.

Pandora shows up on the radio, however any attempt to open something it states "client restricted due to licensing restrictions (are you not in the US?)".

Is there any way around this, and is anyone able to explain why this happens? (First, why isn't Pandora not available if the Smart Radio account is set up as located in NZ? Is it that Pandora still hasn't sorted out access to its services through the Smart Radio?)

I've read this thread (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=48&topicid=105357&page_no=3), however given its age I wondered if things may have moved on a bit.

Appreciate any assistance on, or explanations of, this.

Cheers
Jonathan

Are you running the Squeezebox Firmware on this or the UE Firmware? From memory if you're running the UE Firmware you need to go to UESmartRadio.com and activate it in their control panel.

Sorry, to clarify - yes, he's still running the UE firmware. My references above to installing Pandora are indeed to adding it via the www.uesmartradio.com website - this is where it became available only after I changed his location to the US (previously, the options were scant when NZ selected). It is also on this website that came up with some warning regarding country, but still allowed him to add his Pandora username/password.

Upon adding Pandora via the UE website, it turned up on the radio, only for it to display the message quoted in full above.

So, yes, we have added it via the UE website, but the problems outlined above occurred even having done this.

Thanks!
