My Dad currently has Sky and about 50GB of cable broadband, through Vodafone. He has an old CRT TV that he wants to replace, but only once he's figured out how to set up something with internet access.
Currently, he watches US news channels and a small amount of other programming, mostly documentaries. I'm wondering whether it might be possible (and cheaper) for him to cancel Sky and get what he wants by streaming (even if it requires increasing the data cap). He's also interested in getting Netflix.
If viable, what should he be looking for in terms of a TV? I'm guessing a SmartTV, but maybe it's cheaper to get a regular TV and connect it to say a laptop through an HDMI cable?
