I signed up for a free 1 month trial of Netflix.
I have a Roku 3 assesiing Netflix via Unotelly (UnoDNS). Telecom is my ISP.

I have had Netflix for a week and have only had 1 good evening of watching Netflix. Most of the time it stops playing and shows the percentage sign (usually stops at 25%) and typically gives up with the having trouble viewing ... etc. message.

If I run my Desktop (Upstairs) PC directly connected to the Vigor120 Modem / TP-Link 1043ND Router then speedtest.net says Down: 8.22, Up: 0.96, Ping 25ms.
If I run my MacBook Air (Mid 2013) [Family Room] connected to a TP-Link AV200 Wireless N Powerline Extender, then speedtest.net says Down:8.26, Up: 0.97, Ping: 28ms.
If I run my MacBook Air (Mid 2013) [Family Room)] connected wirelessly via the AV200, then speedtest.net says Down: 8.24, Up: 0.99, Ping: 29ms.

Surely, the latter two speedtest.net results are enough to stream Netflix? In fact, there is little difference between the 3 scenarios.

I'm using netflix with unotelly on PC, Ethernet and a download speed of about 6Mbit/sec. No problem. It normally takes about 15 sec to load, and has never had to buffer.

Are you using wifi or Ethernet to connect to the roku?

There was another thread similar this week (I think it was on xbox instead of roku).

I was having problems with unotelly on ps3 with netflix. After reading the other thread I tried other dns solutions.

I recommend you try getflix and/or unblock-us and see if it's any better.

For me getflix seems to work a lot better than unotelly. I do have the 25% issue sometimes, but usually it happens once or twice at the beginning and afterwards it's fine.

Primarily ethernet but have tried (briefly) wi-fi.

I have signed up with Unotelly for a year, but a trial of Unblock-us cannot do any harm.

This is a known issue on telecom part. Check my thread in telecom "got vdsl connected but having issues"

I was with slingshot previously adsl down sync of 18mb and could stream
Superhd even 3d movies. Reason I moved to telecom 4 weeks ago is because they were the only one have naked vdsl. To make story short they have issues on netflix peering and getting exactly prob you are having.
Solution is move with other provider. Luckily I signed up witj Bigpipe last December and got invitwd with them last week. My netflix stream is now so good. Superhd and 3d movies. With the help of dns getflix.com.au. Good thing with bigpipe is that they are on trial atm and free until 31 March. Good thing as well with Telecom as they didnt charged me 300 bucks for termination. Well i deserved this anyway because my telecom switch was nightmare.

no luck with unotelly or unblockus - getflix.com.au works great

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

So even though Bigpipe is Telecom, they're not using the same Telecom deal and upstream routes?

Which unotelly DNS servers are you using and have you tried changing to some of the others available? I was using the Sydney and NZ ones (both starting with 103.x.x.x) and was seeing the same poor performance via 7MC and my WDTV Live on Snap VDSL. Ditched the NZ server and I'm now using the two Sydney servers, 103.x.x.x & 54.x.x.x and it's been OK for a week or so.

Owned by telecom, but apart from that everything else is separate.

I have a Roku 3 on Telecom VDSL and have the exact same problem.  Apparently it's caused by Telecom's transparent proxy.  I'm trying to get my IP to be added the proxy whitelist to see if that resolves the problem.

From what I've read, and I could be wrong, Snap and BigPipe are the best two ISP's for Netflix streaming.  I'll be switching to Snap if I can't get it to work on Telecom.

Changed to the two Sydney servers but it didn't make any difference.
So, it has to be the Telecom problem.

I use Netflix on an AppleTV with UnblockUS (Speedtest about 12 down, 1 up) and it works flawlessly.

Ps3/roku video quality is much much better compare to atv. You can get superhd plus 3d on ps3 on ps3. So if you are not fuzzy on video qualitu then you can stick with it. Otherwise you can switch isp to get the best quality.

Btw slingshot stream superhd as well. There is option in slingshot console to disable transparent proxy.
