Has anyone subscribed to Nimble TV from New Zealand?

It appears to overcome the issue of requiring a cable subscription in the US to watch content online. Instead they offer a 'TV concierge' service and subscribe you to cable TV - and you can then stream content in HD from any country. You can also add premium channels like HBO.

All you need is to enter a US mailing address and you're away. No idea how the content rights work since they let you watch from any country, but it all seems to check out. Heaps of channels and masses of DVR space.

I signed up in the weekend but then I chickened out and cancelled cause I didn't wan't to pay $85. Even though I used a NZ billing address they let me sign up and even sent emails asking me to rejoin.

I'm already an Aereo subscriber but this seems better again as you have some dollars to throw around.

I used an Air NZ OneSmart card and entered a New York mailing address. Same as I did with Nimble TV.

Pretty good - comparable to Netflix / Hulu. You need a New York VPN.

Just for Aereo. Nimble TV supposedly works in any country.

From what I understand with Nimble you have to sign up to a cable subscription as well? How do you manage that? Will they attempt to install cable at the address you give them?

You have the option to use your cable sub you already have if you are american or it will sign you up for a directv sub

I use strongVPN. I'm not sure how the TV concierge service works but if they can set you up with a sub that would be great

This is how I Aereo.DD-WRT router, Linksys 4200 flashed with "Big" firmware. PPTP connection.
Astrill VPN sub. I selected Dallas, Texas as the VPN site as it was one of the closest to NZ, only 11,000km away. Speed check 5.03MB d/load.
Air New Zealand Debit card mastercard with USD loaded into the account.
Free month sub from Aereo. There after $8 USD a month.

I signed up for the trial yesterday evening and they activated me overnight.

Used a standard NZ credit card, NZ billing details.

I ran wireshark, they don't appear to be using a CDN. All their own IP space and a fairly long traceroute to their servers in New York.

On their HD setting it uses approx 2.5Mbps. Pretty good so far but I did have the odd 5sec glitch at "HD".

I checked the international transit link the stream is coming over and plenty of spare capacity there, so the above factors might be causing some variation in experience for New Zealand viewers.

I've hit record on some shows so will be interested to see if they perform any difference to the live channels.

You're talking Nimble TV not Aereo right? And youre watching without a VPN? Which package did you select on sign up?
