Hi Guys,
Just a simple question I know there are a number of services on the Internet and some have local DNS servers in NZ but from a performance point of view who do you think is the fastest and are they consistently fast or do the handbrakes come on a certain times of day.

Thanks in Advance.

P.S. I'm looking to access the U.S / U.K

Unblock Us.  I've tried multiple VPN providers, and these guys are the best.

Depends entirely on your ISP, their upstream routing and what you're using to stream. There is no one best fit for all. Trial them all and see how you go.

Thanks Guys for the comments heres some more detail,
Setup - PC on Hola works fine.
PS4 - needs Geolocator DNS for the Netflixs app to work
Vodafone Cable 135Mbit down - I have heard about the transparent proxy but as you can read below I have had good results so not sure this would be the problem and you beleive so how does it manifest.

I was on Unlocator - when they were in Beta - the old DNS IP's they had were awsome no issues with the stream but when then they moved to their final rollout IP's I couln't stream at all I was told the new servers were on the east coast of the US where the old ones were West Coast the difference was about 5 hops and the ping times were double.

I trialed Un Block US - and yes it worked but I had to kick the stream in the guts a few times before it took, but once I was in a steady stream it was all good. I was wondering if your on the trail you get a lesser service.

Tried GetFlix on trial as they have an Auckland Server but again couldn't keep a stream really bad performance.

From trialing I'm convinced its not the PS4 rather the DNS speed - interesting Un Block US - the network conncetion speed when testing the internet connection on the PS4 was great which suggested to me maybe not enough slots for connection to NetFlixs.

Hence my question on the best local to NZ or other GeoUnblocker.

This is what I'm talking about when I say so many variables including up stream routing. I'm on VF cable too, and yes, the Auckland Getflix server delivers crap performance. Give one of the Sydney addresses a try... night and day difference (when everything else on VF's network is behaving).

It may depend on whether you want to choose which devices you want to reroute, or whether you want everything rerouted.

Unotelly you set by device, unblockUS (I think) you set at your router.

Like other people have said, it's best to do some free trials and see what you prefer.

Interests: HTPC, Web App authoring.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Was on unblock us, but then it went belly-up for me and the UK whuich was #1 priority. Seemed to be ISP specific which I didn't want to change as it hadn't lost its sparkle at the time so am with getflix too at this time. No issues so far....

Which gives atrocious performance if you're on VF Cable, as the OP is.

Your URL is meant to be: www.getflix.com.au

Don't worry, I've linked it up for you :P

It's been posted many times (things might have changed now since I ditched VF cable about 6 months ago) but the transparent proxy only affects port 80. So if you're watching via a device (tablet, phone, Roku. PS3) they don't use port 80 and you're fine.

But you cannot (well not used to) point your browser to Netflix, Hulu or whatever and view content or even sign up.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Hi lchiu7
I have had no problems through the PC all good just kicking a stream into life through the PS4 is the only issue thinking I may just repurpose an old laptop if I don't have any joy.
