Have a friend that I am wanting to hook up with Netflix but he is on Vodafone cable, just wondering if the proxy issue is still there since VF took over from TCL?

The proxy is still there but I have used Unblock-US and currently UnoTelly (there's a discount code in the ads, check another thread in this subforum) and both work fine on PCs and Amazon Fire TV.
