Has anyone tried to unlink their US Roku and setup as UK? I was thinking about trying that to get the BBC iPlayer for the duration of Soccer World Cup as they will be showing all games..

Off my Roku3 I access BBC iPlayer/iTV and 4OD through Plex - I have them added as "channels" in Plex and it works pretty well - that way I have the US apps on my Roku3 and can still watch UK TV.

That is interesting. I havent tried the Plex app yet. Is it straightforward to set the channels up?

It's not too difficult. I have Plex Server set up on my Windows Home Server 2011 server (although any PC would do) and you manage Plex Server through a browser session - you decide which territory you want the Plex channels to reflect (I have the UK) and you simply add the channels from the channels list and then when you access Plex on the Roku3 it will show you:

"My Library" - for me this shows my Movies, Photo's and TV Shows; and

"Channels" - mine shows BBC iPlayer amongst others - the only thing I would say is that the Plex iPlayer channel isn't as nice as the ios apps etc. but is totally functional.

Yeah it has channels which can play all sorts. But I never found them all that reliable.

As for your original question, since it's sold over in the uk if you could get your network, or just a computer to think it's in the uk for roku access (so you'd probably need a VPN rather than a DNS solution for the set up part) and then create a new roku account - I see no reason why it wouldn't work. But then you'd lose your us based stuff.

I have another question for you. How did you get the iTV and 4oD channels to Plex? I can only find the iPlayer..

Itv you have to search for. It's unsupported. I though the 4od one was pulled,

Hey Guys,

Roku can be setup for either US or UK. The difference basically comes down to the Roku account you use. You will need to use a UK VPN to create the UK Roku account (you can use the 3-day VPN trial we offer). Linking it to Roku gives you UK apps.

As davidcole said, you will loose US content if you switch to UK as Roku can only use one region at a time.

I'd rather keep the US content tight, than loose. However, l'd hate to lose correct grammar even more. :p

You still have to make the iPlayer think You're in the UK though, Plex region settings don't do this for you. How do you do this for Plex on Roku? What is the easiest solution?
