Skygo - streaming the All Blacks games over the last 3 weeks.

1st week when the AB's played in Auckland - Skygo was good, and no issues streaming.
Last 2 matches when the AB's were playing out of Auckland - frequent "Selected item is currently unavailable" messages. The second game when they AB's played in Chch, it was so bad that I missed most of the tries - and took so long to re-buffer the stream that I even missed the replays !!

Was it because the AB's were playing out of Auckland, and Aucklanders were streaming the game and it overloaded the servers ?

Either way, it was not a good experience for a steaming service - is this normal for Skygo to buffer and drop steams during heavy usage ?

Outside of the AB games, such as watching movies, and watching the Warriors replay that was on after the AB's game Saturday late evening, playback was acceptable.

?

Its always been like this for major events. I believe sky moved it to akamai to resolve this but the bandwidth still isnt there. I had it drop the connection 3-4 times then gave up and watched the warriors via livestream, not one issue with that and it was streaming at 720p out of the states!

Tried to stream the first test on SkyGo and couldn't even get the stream to start, tried a random stream from online and it worked perfectly (even over the mobile network). Wander why I pay $100 a month for this...

what service are you using to stream NRL? The once place I could find did the whole not available in your region - even through VPN.

For the record I am a sky subscriber with sports - just curious.

I saw a tweet from Sky about this on Saturday night.

I guess in response to all of this:

You'd think Sky has had enough time to get the live streaming sorted out. It's not rocket science.

Im also a paying customer of Sky. Can be tough to get the tv in the lounge especially for sport so i stream skygo in the man cave.  I just started using livestream.com/nrl this past week as the allblacks stream killed skygo, livestream have all the games live, and all the replays.. What more is they are all in 720p! You will get a geolock thanks to sky but this was easily bypassed.

I streamed game 2 of the All Blacks at Te Horo beach with zero issues.  Tried streaming the Warriors on Saturday at home and it was terrible.  Poor quality, cut out several times.  Completely forgot about the NRL's livestream.  That'll do me next time.

Thanks for the responses - good to know twas not only I having issues, and needing to look elsewhere for resolution.

Wifi connection, slightly dated laptop. But all bearing in mind that out of the AB's games timeslot, it all works well enough.

Doesn't bode well for the new Sky VOD platform - I'd be pretty p!**ed if I paid for a showing, and it constantly dropped - how hard would it prove that the content delivery failed ? Snapshot of the screen ?
