Anyone having the same issues?

Could actually be related to a message I saw on BBC iPlayer on our '11 Bravia TV which was something like "This channel will not be available after <a date I can't remember>" Edit: Okay, seems it isn't a case of Sony retiring service to some models, it's just a BBC thing. But still:

What model are you using?

Also: I noticed a lot of the channels were hidden under a "More channels" or similar option instead of in the menu that pops up. So they could be there (or you may need to 'Refresh Internet Content' option in the network setup menu.

Yeah, I made a rather bad (and it seems incorrect) assumption about the services based on the BBC in-app message, which made me think things like this thread were the next step for older models...

Yeah but.. what model, KDL-?????? could be helpful.

Also, checked this morning, on our Bravia, all the 'channels' are hidden under: [Internet Content]->[Bravia Internet Content] (in which the tiled channel list appears), so it still works on non-Orcon connections, but the old traditional channel list where main/popular channels would be on the Internet Content menu no longer works.

Rang up Orcon, disabled global mode, and the youtube app is working again.

I have the same issue - 46W900 Bravia. Looked into it a little at the weekend, and suspect that the fix is to start a new Sony account with UK or US registration. Didn't get time to try it out though.

My Sony Blu Ray is doing similar things. YouTube no longer works. Keeps coming up with connection error even though the connection is fine.

As an update, apps have all returned now - also linked the TV to a UK registered account to try and get iplayer, but from memory apps were available before doing that (and with global mode on)

So you saying you can use the apps with global mode on? Did you have to register in other regions or just NZ?

I certainly have apps with global mode on.

I have registered a UK account, which is now linked to the TV.

I think - but am not 100% - that the apps reappeared prior to linking that account. Sorry I can't be clearer.

Unotelly has a separate configuration item for Sony devices. By changing it to different countries I have been able to make it load completely different sets of apps. From that I'd posit that Global mode would have the same effect on any Bravia device.

BTW I set the Netflix and Sony Bravia settings on Unotelly to different countries. Unfortunately the Bravia iPlayer app appears to be a bit rubbish.
