The NZ vs AUS rugby league that is on tonight, in NZ you have to have Sky Sport, but I have discovered in the UK it's free on BBC 2. Using an unlocking service I can watch it via iplayer

It's free somewhere else but we're meant to pay to watch it in our own country where it's our team that's playing. Grr

Apologies for bad/lazy typing. I'm on my phone

And I'm sure sky have paid pleanty for the to be able to charge for it.
also IMO sky's OSB are about the only company in NZ who can do a decent job of live sports

You do have to pay for a TV licence in the UK, that pays for stuff like this.

Yeah, That's whats awesome!

It was my first time using iPlayer. Quite awesome how you can watch live shows and shows that have played in the start. And if a live show has already started you can choose to watch it from the start. Why hasnt TVNZ done this?!?!?!

Well the Beeb have really been the worldwide leaders regarding online TV. This is due to the fact that there is a payable licence fee and a charter regarding what they have to provide and how they do it. There is mounting pressure to get rid of the licence fee which is a real shame, because the resulting factor will be loss of quality and innovation. The Brits do not realise how good they have it with Aunty Beeb.

It's free and you get those features because UK residents pay for it.

We pay around $280 per year for everything the BBC has to offer. I don't find it very expensive..

I don't know how I feel about using iPlayer. The Brits pay for it and I feel like I'm freeloading..
