Just signed up for a free trial of Unotelly.
I changed the DNS setting on my pc.

Not really had a chance to check it out, but just wanted to make sure that my PC is not going to be compromised by changing the settings and any other feedback other members may have on the service.

Thanks

I too signed up for the 14 day trial at the weekend.  One plus was I was able to watch the All Blacks against Wales on BBC. I haven't noticed any adverse effects so far. Works well on Apple TV, although many of the US TV sites still require some sort of local account/sign on so really aren't that relevant/usable. Also many of the "on demand" TV programs on various channels still require you to watch advertisements - exactly as is the case here of course. UnoTelly can't get around that!  Pricing seems about right though at $4.95 a month - USD I assume.

No, long as youre using the DNS settings shown to you by Unotelly you're fine.

Ive been using them for a number of months now and had no issues really.....

It looks like unotelly sets up a VPN, would this be the case and if so what is the difference between using it at a charge and using Hola better internet which you can use for free ?

You don't need the VPN to watch Netflix, BBC etc. It just detects the media streaming (CDN) from those sites and tell them you are in the correct country. It seems to do it quickly and reliably and I am still happy after 6 months.

I'd just suggest you use it for a week (or 2) then compare to the free service and see if that works for you.

The VPN service is handy if you need a VPN or want to use an app store in a particular country (say to gain a copy of the BBC iplayer app). Also offers the other advantages of VPNs if you want that as well. Personally I've never signed up to the VPN extra.

Interesting.

I use unotelly so I can stream Netflix via the xbox 360 to my TV. Seems that doesn't work via Hola

I am a bit confused here.
is Netflix a actual channel that you can get on Unotelly ?

No - on the Xbox you download and install the Netflix app from microsoft. And then get play the app on the xbox 360 to get Netflix on your tv. Unotelly allows you to download the free app for Netflix and tells Netflix your xbox is in the USA.

There are some more steps involved I have missed out but it is straight forward. Google is your friend. I have my unotelly DNS setting loaded into my router.
