Quickflix, New Zealand’s leading movie streaming service, today announced a major upgrade for the Sony PlayStation platform with the launch of its premium streaming service of latest release movies and current season TV shows.

PlayStation owners will now be able to stream the latest new release movies on a pay-per-view basis and buy current season TV shows to own by the episode or with a season pass, adding to the existing subscription streaming option of $12.99 per month. The new upgrade also features the Quickflix “Playlist” of pre-selected movies and TV shows for viewing across other devices on the Quickflix platform, as well as PlayStation.

Quickflix’s premium streaming includes new major release movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy, 22 Jump Street, Maleficent, Divergent and Godzilla as well as current seasons of hit TV shows including The Walking Dead, Hell On Wheels, Orange Is The New Black, Dr Who and many more.

Paddy Buckley, Managing Director Quickflix NZ, said: “This is great news for Sony PlayStation fans just in time for Christmas and summer time viewing. PlayStation is already one of our best-performing devices and this update brings thousands more hours of movies and TV shows to Quickflix on PlayStation and reinforces our commitment to offer entertainment fans even greater choice when it comes to watching their favourite shows on their terms.

“Quickflix streaming is available on more devices than any other service and is the only one to offer both subscription and pay-per-view options.  We cover all bases.”

Krister Robinson, Marketing Manager Sony Computer Entertainment NZ, said “At PlayStation we are committed to bringing our customers the best user experience both in gaming and entertainment services. We are excited about the upgrade in the PlayStation and Quickflix offering as this now gives our valued customers access to the latest movies and TV shows on demand.”

I thought Playstation 3 was one of Quickflix's original platforms along with the '12 Sony Bravia TVs.

And yeah, I know Quickflix is marginally cheaper than sourcing internationally at times (Vudu etc), but yeah, anyone still use it?

Up until Dec 24 this year we are still using it. After months of slacking off I finally got around to cancelling our sub. Now that you can access their premium content via PS3 i might finally be able to use that free premium credit thats been sitting in the account for months before our sub finally expires.
