Hey there.

I am wondering if someone can help me out.

I own a brand new (3 month old)  Samsung Smart TV 40 inch. Comes with Smart Hub.

It did not come installed with the Netflix app.

I want to watch netflix on my tv. My ISP is Orcon.

If I buy Chromecast, is there a way I can stream netflix FROM MY ANDROID PHONE to the Samsung Smart TV?.

I do in fact have the netflix app installed on my phone. I notice there is a 'casting' icon in the top right part of the app and my TV is listed in the drop down selection, except, when I try to play to the TV i get an error message. Is this because I don't have the google chromecast device that retails for around 60$ ?

Can someone give me some brief instructions on how I , as a customer of Orcon, can watch Netflix on my brand new Samsung Smart TV?.

Should be a netflix app on your TV - might need an update to get it.

definitely no netflix app on my Samsung Smart TV.  It is very new, just 3 months old, and I think the newer Samsung Smart TV's do not come pre-installed with Netflix. They do, on the other hand, come installed with the Lightbox and QuickFlix apps etc, but not netflix. I also called Samsung and they said Netflix isn't part of their standard app lineup.

I could probably wait for the New Zealand netflix release which is when they say the app will become available on the TV, but I want the US version now.

So, can someone help?

Is it possible to stream Netflix from your android Netflix phone app to the TV using Google Chromecast?   What would I need to do to achieve this?

Netflix launches in NZ end of this month. An update will probably bring the app soon. Getting a Chromecast will be just an extra $60 expense. But if you want, yes Netflix will connect to the Chromecast if you use a service such as UnoTelly and block access to Google DNS as per this thread.

Almost certain there will be a software update before the end of the month and the Netflix app will appear on your menu.
