Hi All

Its my first topic ever in GZ so forgive me if its an already discussed topic, thought of checking with you guys if there is any streaming service that you know of which would offer History channel, Nat Geo, Discovery, PBS etc to stream live with an App that would work in NZ. I dont want to watch catch up shows and pre-recorded videos or movies.

Found Gobox.tv an excellent sevice for the 3 day trial they offered. It has all the channels I want including sports but it doesnt have an App and would need to Chromecast it to TV.

I do have a Roku 3 at home but again, dont have Unotelly or that sorts to Geo-unblock. I am no expert but I believe Offshore DNS servers would have a significant impact on the overall internet speed compared to ISP provided ones, I could be wrong here.
Again my main intentions are to watch documentary channels and not the latest movies so if any one knows of any streaming service that works in NZ, please share.

The offshore smart DNS providers are miles better than any isp provided one.

They update their service faster
They have better support
They work more consistently well, based on anecdotal posts to geekzone.
They don't reduce your choice of isp to only those that offer it

Plus there is the upside that there is nothing that the NZ government or anyone can do to stop them, unlike the NZ based global model

The only downside is that you have to pay a whopping $3-$5 per month to use the better ones.

I'd go for either unotelly or unblock-us.

EtA: they don't impact your internet speed as far as I can tell.

Hmm, Gobox.tv looks interesting for sports fans etc. (A lot of Sky sports channels). But its probably not a legit service, so those that sign up should probably keep to a monthly subscription....

I would be surprised if they did geoblocking of the service..

I Googled and found their Twitter account. (Which has only been active since february it looks like).

They have posted some pictures of what I guess is a "channel list". https://twitter.com/GoBox_tv/media

But maybe OP has a more comprehensive list from the service?

I can get PBS and History without subscription on my Apple TV set to US region and using UnoTelly DNS. Sling International (formerly Dishworld) might have everything you're looking for but I can't find a full channel list.

Edited for bad punctuation.

Great. Thanks guys for the suggestions.. I found Gobox.tv during my search to stream Cricket Worldcup and honestly the 3 day trial was just enough for me with good quality streaming and no drags during the semifinals.
The price was cheap too. Only that it didnt have an app that I could use and I wasnt aware there is this risk of non-legit paid streaming services.

If you guys use a non-official service, can't complain later if your credit card number ends up in a database available for sale.

That's where those pre-loaded debit Visa or MasterCard cards come in handy. Especially the travel ones with multi-currency wallets that seem to work for overseas subscriptions. The most you can lose is the credit balance on the card, and they're not linked to your bank account in any way. My sister uses one for all her subscriptions, because she's extra cautious.

Payments are through Paypal only, so that rules out having to disclose Credit card info to these guys. I haven't tried subscribing though.
Wish they had an app for Roku, I would certainly have had it.

Seems similar to ntv.mx or OffsideStreams, except ntv and Offside have way more channels.

Do they support PayPal? I couldn't find it on both. Moreover ntv.mx is almost 3.5 times the price of Gobox.

Signed up for a free trial, why not. Only 1 day now and nothing but the sky channels work, none of the sports channels would load for me, that and i couldn't find boxnation in the list.

Offsidestreams say they have boxnation, anyone use that? If so how do you find it?

Neither have PayPal, I would just use a prepaid Visa Card i.e a prezzy card etc. ntv.mx is more expensive but they have reasonable support and they do offer 3x the number of channels.
Offside Streams also has the US channels along side the European channels.

EDIT: ignore me, it does appear that ntv.mx have US channels as well.
