Hi there,

I have been running US Netflix through Unotelly on my Samsung smart tv with Smart hub. It runs sometimes but most times the videos will not load. I try time and time again and end up switching the TV off and on again to try netflix again. I am just wondering if there is a fix for this or is this a known issue. I see that Spark are threatening ISP's with Globalmode so am wondering if it is spark somehow messing with my US Netflix.

It's possible your IP address is changing (assuming you don't have a static one) which will break the UnoTelly functionality. If you log into your UnoTelly account, there will be a tile that says "update IP" - click on that and then try Netflix again.

Edited to add: If this is the problem, and it's frequent, have a look on UnoTelly's help page. They have a fix which will automatically keep your IP up to date, although I'm not sure exactly what that entails.

Bookmark the 'fix' page. That way whenever you lose access because your IP address has changed, you can simply click on the bookmark to update your account with UnoTelly with the new IP address.

Thanks for the suggestion but i have already done this. I have the ipdpdate bookmarked. Each time i log into Unotelly's website it says everything is good. Got me scratching my head.

doubtful.  It would be reported much wider if this was the case.

have you tried it on other devices? e.g. PC, playstation etc
have you tried other services? e.g. hulu, bbc iplayer.  how do they perform?

how is your TV connected? Ethernet or wifi?

Probably their proxy servers. You can always ask to be put on a static IP address. See http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=170915

Hi there. It works great on my PC. My TV is connected through ethernet. I have set the DNS server settings in the TV to suit the dns settings supplied by Unotelly. Same as my pc. Got me buggered.

If it is their proxy servers would it block my PC from watching netflix as well? My PC works fine.

I've got a TG 582n.

Does your one not have firewall settings. Mine wouldn't let me change the settings, then I worked out that have to clone the firewall, and then can change settings on the clone, and made the clone the active one.

I did it all from the GUI.

So far having no problems on Spark, and using Unotelly, and PS3.

Could you possibly run me through how to do this? I have made a new firewall rule but the options baffle me. I know that i have to add the public dns names to it but do not know the settings. Could you possibly take a screenshot of your firewall setting for this?

In edit screen name, any name can go here.
Enabled ticked
Source Interface  any
Source address    any
User-Defined   blank
Destination Interface  any
Destination Address, one of the ones you want to block
User-Defined Blank
Service  any
Action Deny

Then click apply at bottom screen.

On configure screen click add for each address you want blocked.
Also the fromlan was part of the standard firewall that I cloned, don't delete this as I did the first time and it ended up blocking access to the internet.

Hope some help.

I got the numbers to block from here. Looks like I missed out blocking the 209 address's. Seems to be working alright so I won't worry about those ones for now.

Here's an example of settings to block one address.

Strange. I did as you said and then my Tv couldnt connect to the internet at all. Even my pc stopped connecting. I disabled each address from the firewall one at a time and had to disable the new clone before my internet would work again. :(

The from lan one do you have that one in there. It's got to be set to allow in the action setting. Without that there, my internet didn't work either.

Also you might have to go to unotellys website and update ip,  if they have the wrong ip address of your internet connection it won't work either.
