Morning all,
Just bought a new Samsung UHD TV and have noticed that some apps are not coming up in the app store ie Crackle, BBC iPlayer, A&E etc
Are these smart tv's region locked? Tried searching but not a very good selection in the app store.

Any help welcome.

I have not bothered as I am quite happy with the Apps provided in NZ for my use, but yes I understand they are region coded.  There are heaps of tutorials on-line showing how to change the region depending on your particular model TV.  Just Google "how to change the region code for......." and you should find what you are looking for.

Region blocked. My Samsung TV is set to UK. It's my hub to the UK on demand TV which I find excellent.

This the guide I used to change regions in my F Series. https://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/articles/1138038-samsung-f-series-smart-tv-2013-app-store-change

It was a while ago so I'm unsure it still works. I'm sure Google will help you out if you get stuck.

Thank you. I am guessing that if I change the region then I will need unotelly or something similar?
Also, from the uk region - any app recommendations?

yes you will need a DNS type service or for you ISP to privde global mode.

I personally use UK to get BBC iPlayer, I basically just use
- Netflix
- Plex
- iPlayer
- Youtube

A lot of the shows I watch on iPlayer end up on youtube pretty quickly too.

Yes you'll need a DNS service of some sort. I have unotelly and can recommend them.

My set up is Unotelly in the router.

US Stuff on Apple TV
UK Stuff on Samsung TV once it's set to UK region obviously.

Never had any issues. I was watching Channel 4 on demand last night in fact!

Good luck!

I run my smart tv on UK since its inbuilt player is best at dealing with 25FPS, and leave my games consoles for US content.

My old samsung had its netflix uninstall last week when I went to use it on it, Been there and working for ages but when I went to use it again it did the old "network interference is occured" error and then proceeded to tell me that it would update and it went away. Im hoping my new LG will behave better.

Just to note the new H series Tv's are different to the older ones - the fwd 289 rev trick doesn't work and you cant have apps from 2 different regions :(

We are with Spark and get free Lightbox, so have to keep with NZ apps for now.

Changed regions last night first to uk then tried usa as well. Brought the TV to a crawl, apps were very slow or crashed altogether. Set it back to nz due to pissing me off.
Might be better off with a dedicated streaming device to save the hassle.

Did you change the ip and dns settings on the TV? My Sammie has no problems with the UK settings. All apps are instant with no crashes. Something is amiss at your end and not specifically related to the Sammie.

No didn't have the DNS settings right plus I have since found out I have faulty jack points as well.
Have since changed regions, trying Australia first which seems to be ok. At some point will try UK.
