Hi

I just subscribed to a free month of Tidal, now officially available in NZ....

I tried adding to Sonos but it doesnt appear as a music service to add, even though all the info on the Tidal website about Sonos suggests its on there...

Any thoughts?

Shows as an available service on all my controllers. Android, CR200 and WinPC. Not sure what to suggest though, check you have updated to the latest versions perhaps?

Solved... Sonos support reset my system remotely. I already had the latest version.

My Sonos controllers (ipad, iphone, Win PC) are not showing the Tidal service when I go to "Add Service".

Checked for updated software but says nothing new available! Any ideas?

Like gehgood I too had to contact Sonos and they reset something on their end and then Tidal showed up in the music services so I could add my account.

Heard back from Sonos support :

While Tidal has recently launched in New Zealand, unfortunately at this point in time it is not available for streaming through Sonos. We don't have a confirmed reason why at the moment unfortunately, but we have just sent an email to our US support team to ask for any further information about the service.

Just have to wait I suppose :)

Ah yea I'm in NZ and it is working on mine.
My Sonos USA support request got forwarded onto Sonos Australia who did the reset.

Slightly off topic but what's the draw of Tidel on Sonos if you already have access to other streaming services? I wouldn't think you would hear any difference on these systems between mp3 and lossless CD quality so is it content or just to try something new?

subscribed to the trial - had a quick play - layout doesn't grab me - catalogue is large which is good - some exclusives, none of which i particularly care for  - usability to me is inferior to spotify

tried the hifi trial - but on my gear in the study ie. usb dac + pioneer amp + wharfedales didn't sound any different (at least to my beaten up ears) than the same song streamed over spotify (perhaps those with better gear/ears with appropriate a/b testing would spot a difference?)

so yeah - certainly would make no sense for me to pay more for hifi tidal (even though my heart bleeds for the poor millionaire backers :/ )

and i ain't changing horses from spotify premium to normal tidal given i have all i "need" with spotify + my existing playlists + functionality + local files

anyway - that's my 2c.....

Ive free trialed google play, deezer, spotify and now Tidal.

I like the Tidal UI and playlists more than the other 3.  I cant see any real difference with the catologues except deezer which i thought was inferior.  My preference at the moment is google play, as i cant stream to my sonos speakers without using the sonos app, Tidal isnt bad as the playlists are accessible via the sonos app pretty easily.  Spotify was the worst in that respect as i'd have so save a playlist as a favourite in the spotify app and wait for the sonos app to sync to show in the app to play.

If tidal get chromecast support i'll stick with them on the normal service.
