I understand that Chromecast will let me get the NZ Netflix. Is it possible to get the US Netflix thru Chromecast using UnotellyDNS ? There was a thread here somewhere about the Google Chromecast wouldn"t allow it, is that right ? If it does allow it can you use your NZ Netflix account to access it or do you need a US account.? And lastly how do you get the UK channels ? would there be a similar problem with the Chromecast ? Los more buzzing round in my head but I think this'll do for now, probably used my ???? quota.

To use Netflix on the chromecast you will need to block the Google public DNS servers on your router. The chromecast attempts to use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but will fall back to your routers settings if they cannot be reached.

Did it work I have same problem have global mode but with that going I want to keep my Netflix with chromecast

Haven't tried it yet Stu1 but it seems to work OK going by internet reports and it worked for KingPickle. I've got the Vodafone Huawei 659 and am a bit chicken to try it case I stuff something up. I do have a Netgear N600 that I might connect up and play with. (just a chickenstep person when it comes to computers).

i am going to give it a go tonight, chromecast is brilliant with global mode but not sure how it will go with a VPN will let you know if it works

I'm running Netflix/Unotelly/Chromecast without issue on my Spark HG630b freebie modem

I just followed the guides on Unotelly and it all worked well

Best of all you can start watching a program in one region then change regions and watch another region concurrently on another device

Hi, not sure where to post this, no more global mode so trying to use netflix us via unotelly through the chromecast, i have added a static route for 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to get around the chromecast dns settings, i can cast to netflix but keep getting the message this title is not available to watch, some times it works though?. I tried the same test before i left orcon with global mode off and it worked fine but not working with my new vodafone connection. I also tried to block the dns in the HG659 vodafone modem and all that did was block the connection for the chromecast to connect. Any help would be greatly appreciated, im sure there will be lots of newbies like me with questions like this after the 1st of September. Global mode was soo much easier

If you're still on free trial with Unotelly then I would trial another service. A friend of mine had trouble with Unotelly/Vodafone with his Apple TV, but Unblock-Us works perfectly for him. Not exactly the same circumstances but a very similar issue. Worth a shot and free to try.

I have two Chromecasts, one of which is attached to a Sony TV on which the software is quite awful. Like the OP I also use Unotelly and have a Huawei HG659. I stream Netflix from any region via my phone or a tablet to the Sony TV without any problems. I have Unotelly dynamo IP addresses set up as the DNS on the router and blocked a few public DNS systems via Parental Controls rather than using a static route.

Hi

Am trying to get Unotelly and Chromecast to work with a D-Link DSL-2740B router without success. Is this even possible?

I also have a Huawei HG630B. Would this be a better choice?

When you change region via unotelly you need to shut down and restart the Netflix app to 'see' the new region, i suspect this is where your problem lies

I did actually have it going but I thought the quality was not as good as Netflix NZ. It was very slow to load with lots of blank spaces where the movies should be. Also Chromecast would not work. My Oppo Blu-ray player did go to US Netflix but very slow to load.

Have you blocked the Google DNS as in a post just above yours?

Thank you for all the replys, i have blocked it under perental mode and seems to work, bit hit and miss with netflix working quite often times out it seems to be working better just blocking 8.8.8.8. hopefully will get it sorted,

I am all sorted now. I gave up on unotelly and tried Getflix. Was easy to setup with no problems at all. I even got my Chromecasts to work. Very Happy!
