So given that the NZ account is currently a bit cheaper than the US account thanks to the exchange rate, and because there's no real need to do so anymore, does anyone know if it's possible to change a US Netflix account to an NZ one?

Yes, people on here have done it - I'm considering the same with the exchange rate plummeting!

So can you just change the "home country" of the account or do you close one account and open another one?

Hi all I have just done this. Well about to tomorrow. I contacted Netflix support and they said just cancel account and on the day it expires just log in and renew (making sure your DNS has you in NZ) and it just switches you over. All very easy apparently.

Yep that was my specific question to them. As long as you don't change the userid after the change it just says you have moved country.

Yes it's the same as if you go on holiday to another country. You just get a message saying the content is different.

Only one way to find out with any certainty...

Perhaps I'd only watched programmes that were not available outside US. Strangely enough when I wanted to watch Fargo I had to go somewhere strange like the Netherlands as it wasn't available in US Netflix.

There's quite a lot of content not available on US Netflix that is available elsewhere. Including US originated content. Definitely worth checking out what is available in other countries, there seems to be some sort of myth that everything is available in the US. Canada, UK, Germany and Netherlands are ones I use often (in addition to the US). An app like iStreamGuide (on Android) or https://flixsearch.io/ is a great way to find where to get specific content.

As it happens I'm in the process of doing the change to Netflix NZ now for the same exchange rate reasons.
I've cancelled my subscription and waiting for the month to end.
My billing month expires tonight so will try and change and re-subscribe tomorrow after work.

I'll report back once done.
