Seems Showtime has now followed HBO Now's lead and is making itself available to stream on Roku without a subscription. A free 30-day trial (with credit card, of course...) is available and then after that it is USD$10.99 per month:

For the first time ever, SHOWTIME is available to stream with a monthly subscription over your Roku device. Watch award-winning Original Series like Ray Donovan, Homeland, Shameless, Masters of Sex, Penny Dreadful and more. Catch up on old favorites like Dexter and Weeds, plus get sports, hit movies, exclusive documentaries and comedy specials—all commercial free!

With SHOWTIME, you can also watch what’s airing live, including new series premieres and the biggest names in boxing.

Anyone keen to see if a New Zealand credit card will work? I already have a legit subscription :).

Interesting to see the following statement on the bottom of the email I received: "SHOWTIME is intended for viewing solely in the United States and its territories and possessions with a high-speed broadband connection." It says intended, but doesn't explicitly state it can't be viewed outside the US :)

Cheers,
Richard

Appears it is only on AppleTV and Roku for now, as well as a couple of others: http://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/showtime-stand-alone-streaming-service-lauches-roku-apple-playstation-vue-hulu/

H
owever...if you have Hulu it seems you can get the Showtime online streaming at a $2 per month discount (USD$8.99). This may work for non-US residents.

Further info:
http://recode.net/2015/06/23/hulu-will-sell-showtime-on-the-web-too-at-a-20-percent-discount/

I can see absolutely ZERO reason to retain Sky now. I have signed up a few friends to Netflix and Hulu and they have downgraded their Sky but have kept it for one reason or another, but with Hulu offering the option... This is another nail in the coffin for our greedy friends at Sky.

Given that Hulu accepts NZ credit cards, then I can't see a problem with getting Showtime outside the US.
