I see www.videoezyondemand.co.nz is now dead, not sure when this happened but life was very short lived, can't seem to find anything about its demise on Google (my googlefu could be lacking).

Too much competition?
Too pricey?
Too limited range of supported devices?
All of the above?

At least they gave it a try

If you have rented or purchased any movies or TV shows, these movies are no longer available on Video Ezy On Demand.

(Emphasis added by me)

I wonder what that means for any purchased content. Is it available to their ex-users on other platforms?

Ultraviolet? Did they allow you to redeem UV codes with them?

I guess that is a risk of digital content, where you have an agreement between you and a supplier for the provision of digital goods, if that supplier can no longer supply, then you're out of pocket. The impact to end customers should be minimal, who would have paid their prices?

You mean Quickflix.

Guess when you purchase digital content it only lasts as long as the company keeps providing the service for.

Wonder if that's the same for games as well, some of them you have to log into a server at least once a month to keep them going.

Edit: sorry just Googled Ezyflix, hadn't heard of them, they've closed to. Quickflix has purchased content to, so if they shut down the risk is the same.

nope.. i mean Ezyflix..

was also available across the samsung TV apps.

http://ezyflix.tv/index.html

same parent company.

found a report on tech radar that seems to suggest that the arrival of Netflix in Aus/NZ was the primary cause of the demise and that they could not compete against google and amazon in terms of movie catalog and release dates.

not sure how long Quickflix will last...
