Is there a way to turn off the DNS on mac and pc so the DNS addresses arent used?

Ive noticed some shows in NZ even with the DNS service set to NZ region wont play.

Mac: Set up a new "Location" in Sys Prefs/Network with the DNS servers configured. You can then choose Location/Automatic or Location/DNS from the Apple menu.

I know that Windows has a similar concept but I don't know how to configure it.

Depending on how much gear you have at home - you can use conditional forwarders to only forward DNS requests for specific domains to an unblocking service.

e.g. netflix.com -> getflix, ondemand.co.nz -> ISP/default

i dont quite get where in the apple menu i would be able to select this location change so easily? is it under a sub heading? or will it appear as a different network under the network icon?

Have you set up a new location in Network Preferences yet*? Once you've done that, a Location submenu will appear under the Apple menu (it won't appear until you have at least two locations set up - the default "Automatic" plus your new one for your DNS provider).

*I'm at work right now so don't have exact steps in front of me, but it's something like System Preferences > Network > Open the Locations menu > New Location > Give it a name > Set the DNS servers > Apply.

I have getflix settings in the router, but use a program "DNS Jumper" (free) for my pc and can choose from a list of dns settings and put your own in, it's very good, sometime go back to my ISP DNS settings when I want, very quick to change when neaded.

Is this done at the router level or just on a Mac/PC?
