I have seen a report in Torrent Freak that the BBC is now actively attempting to block access to BBC iPlayer from VPN servers / proxies, even from UK VPN providers.

Has anyone here encountered any problems yet using a VPN or smart DNS services like UnoTelly ?  It's still working for me.

I suspect VPN / DNS providers will have to assign multiple shifting IP addresses to their ports which with IPv6's potential number ranges should not be a big ask.

Just checked and seems to be working the same as ever.

Edit: At least with DNS proxies. I use different ones according to my mood.

I just read the article and it seems to only be targeting VPNs. I also just tried it with my local DNS and an anonymoX UK proxy and that worked too, but with a lot of buffering.

I haven't gone the VPN/iPlayer route yet, as I still need to tweak my home entertainment infrastructure.

But it seems like they are starting a whack-a-mole arms-race that they can't win.
